AMT's Audio team provides the audio foundation for various high profile features like Game Audio, Siri, FaceTime, media capture, playback and API's for third party developers to enrich our platforms. The team is seeking a driver engineer responsible for the development of audio related drivers and applications for the Mac, iOS and tvOS hardware platforms. You will work hand-in-hand with the Audio Design & Engineering Team, innovating in small groups with high initiative. We're looking for a background in driver development, network and bus protocols, and low level debugging.

Description
We are looking for an engineer with strong programming skills to work on upcoming Apple products. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of drivers, APIs and transport protocols for new hardware and software releases at Apple. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys engaging at all layers of the software stack, from low level kernel drivers written in C++, to higher level APIs, frameworks, and UIs written in Objective C or Swift. It is an opportunity to make significant contributions to the core technologies that underpin many audio/video features at Apple such as AirPlay, Continuity Camera, and future projects. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: - Design, develop and debug audio drivers, protocols and APIs - Driver bringup for new platforms and peripherals related to audio transport and synchronization - Participate in monitoring industry standards bodies and new specification development - Participate in medium and large scale software engineering processes - Create and maintain engineering documents
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in software development, debugging, and testing
- Experience with kernel level programming, device drivers and/or real-time systems software
- Experience with designing, implementing and analyzing performance of network or bus protocols
- Excellent programming skills with knowledge of C, C++, and Objective-C or Swift
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IOKit, DriverKit or userspace driver development is a plus
- Understanding of USB, Ethernet and network clock synchronization protocols and standards is a plus
- macOS UI development experience in Objective C or Swift is a plus
- BS in Computer Science or Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $121,900 and $214,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
