As an Engineering Program Manager (EPM) on the Apple Data Products & Platforms EPM group, you'll improve and enhance the quality of Apple product features for hundreds of millions of users worldwide. You'll come up with creative solutions for scaling quality assurance for a multi-platform, global, and rapidly-growing product. You'll collaborate with Data Engineering, Infrastructure and Product teams across Apple to help deliver on our vision to build a world-class ML & Analytics products while following the industry-leading privacy & security requirements of Apple. Join us, and impact customers across a plethora of Apple of devices around the world! We develop robust, large-scale, privacy-first enterprise data infrastructure services, with the ultimate goal of empowering all data users to adopt ML with ease, measure and improve their products. We need an experienced hands-on EPM to coordinate teams of versatile and creative backend engineers to help us deliver on that mission. We're looking for people with a consistent track record managing projects ands maintaining sophisticated data & ML products.

Description

Help manage Privacy-first Apple Data Platform, streamlining processes, crafting frameworks that scale across different teams, and supporting safe and continuous/agile development and release Own all aspects of program management for Apple Data Platform: Building a scalable, reliable, and hybrid cloud ML & Data Platform. Partnering closely with engineering managers, product managers, and engineers to gather requirements, scope effort, manage resource allocation, prioritization, and schedule deliverables Facilitate cross-team communication inside and outside of the Data Platform organization; ensuring that requirements are well understood and that expectations on priorities and delivery schedules are well-managed Build and run processes that allow for maximum agility and adaptation across Data Platform teams while measuring and maintaining the highest possible product quality Establish relationship with teams across Apple; educate teams on the right way to ship the finest software possible and facilitate communication between cross-divisional groups around Apple.
  • 7+ years project management, engineering management, and/or QA/QC management experience in a fast-paced, incredibly sophisticated service
  • Technical project management or engineering ownership of storage, cloud based platform, MLOps & data infrastructure used by external engineering and data science teams
  • Technical understanding of different components of a modern big data infrastructure, such as Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes, Flink Hadoop ecosystem, etc and ML services.
  • Hands-on involvement in delivering data storage, data management & ML products and tools that are used by engineering teams to improve customer experience and build robust ML models.
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting data/metrics to back up assumptions, make recommendations and drive actions
  • Self-motivated, independent, and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to quickly triage, prioritize, and lead under pressure
  • Outstanding communication and presentation abilities to all levels of an organization
  • Prior data storage, data management, MLOps, & data analysis experience (Spark, Flink, Ray, SQL, Jupyter Notebooks, Tableau, Superset, and other cloud technologies)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior developer experience working in Hadoop and/or with AWS using products such as S3, MLOps, EC2, EKS, IAM, RDS, etc. is a bonus

Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $165,500 and $248,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
