We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Manager with a proven track record of leading projects in cross-functional and interdisciplinary settings, along with strong technical expertise. Your highly skilled team will be responsible for developing AI/ML-powered solutions to advance the measurement of Apple Intelligence products. This includes model evaluation by integrating AI-based techniques with human-in-the-loop and applying AI in data and evaluation fields to push the state of the art forward.
Description
The Data and Machine Learning Innovation team is deeply focused on the end-to-end lifecycle of ML product development, finding innovative ways to make it scalable and efficient. The team builds a suite of AI-driven systems responsible for evaluating Apple's intelligence products, ensuring they align with human values and user intents. As part of our team, you will work together with similar minds in a unique development team where your skills and expertise will be put into the Apple products. This role is highly multi-functional, and you will collaborate very closely with various highly skilled data scientists, tooling engineering, machine learning, and software development teams, developing groundbreaking solutions! In addition to technical leadership, you will also be expected to provide people leadership. You will recruit, hire, and grow people who are not only great technically but also demonstrate success in the highly collaborative, functional environment of innovation at Apple. You and your team will proactively drive a vision and work in service of something larger without creating a service organization. Your team can deliver what is needed but also redefine what is possible. As a leader, you give clear feedback to your team that balances opportunities for growth with a vision to inspire. You are humble and lead by example, have compassion for your colleagues and their challenges, but can drive a controversial direction when needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of technical leadership experience.
- Excellent knowledge and experienced practical skills in major machine learning algorithms.
- Extensive knowledge in design and development of large scale distributed and big data processing systems.
- Mastery of one of the following languages: Python, Java, or C++, demonstrating a strong background in algorithms and data structures.
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Creativity and curiosity for solving highly complex problems.
- Excellent data analytical skills.
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $239,700 and $360,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
