As a member of the Global Safety team at Apple, you will work in a fast pace environment to assess bias and harm in models and focus on mitigating and identifying solutions tailored specifically to each of our international markets. Our team is currently interested in large generative models for vision and language, with a specific focus on safety, robustness, and uncertainty in models.

Description
We are responsible for ensuring the seamless and safe end-to-end experience across our generative features in global markets, adhering to Apple's global standards. Our team manages a diverse range of responsibilities tailored to our global markets, encompassing international policy making, overseeing red teaming initiatives, conducting general safety evaluations, multilingual guardrail modeling, model alignment and experimentations. You will be responsible for establishing and defining safety best practices, streamlining evaluations, and working on model alignment, with a specific focus on multilingual models and data generation. Your work will be highly cross-functional, involving collaboration with highly skilled machine learning engineers, software engineers, policy makers, and design teams worldwide to develop and deliver groundbreaking solutions. You'll use your expertise in technology's societal implications to contribute to research projects and improve the safety development ecosystem.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D., M.S. or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning, and/or Human-Computer Interaction
- 7+ years proven experience working on Machine Learning building Products facing external customers.
- Proficient in one more programming languages Python/Swift/ObjectiveC
- Strong in research fundamentals, machine learning principles, and development methodologies around LLMs, foundation models, and diffusion models
Preferred Qualifications
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills: You must be able to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Analytical skills: You must be able to conduct and oversee analyses that include data gathering, requirements specification, processing, analysis, and presentations.
- Advocacy for scientific and engineering excellence: You will define the architecture and high-level structure of our international Safety approach.
- Engineering: Oversee the development and integration of multilingual guardrail models, Alignment Approaches and Data Generation frameworks.
- Leadership: Lead teams of high-functioning machine learning and software engineers to define and deliver responsible machine learning technologies.
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
