The Aesthetics Engineer conducts research, development and applications in camera capture, image editing, and related software apps. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop the next generation of creative imaging tools and state-of-the-art technologies to surprise and delight creative pros and enthusiasts alike. Description

- Has strong analytical skills to distill complex open-ended problem spaces into effective engineering solutions that stay true to the scope of the problem. - Develops and implements new functionalities that push the boundaries of imaging technology in practical and delightful ways. - Develops criteria and evaluates technical and aesthetics development in key areas of the product. - Maintains a broad and deep understanding of contemporary photographic aesthetics movements around the world and how they are technically achieved in image capture and edit workflows. -- Directly impacts the user experience by programming aesthetic adjustments on various levels of the image and across all aspects of the professional-grade image processing and capture/edit workflows.

• Demonstrated experience working in the technical realm of photographic aesthetics - through scripting, automation design and related methods of working effectively with large image sets.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, articulate and technically execute a broad range of contemporary photographic aesthetics across the imaging preference space at the highest level, regardless of personal tastes and perspectives.
• Professional proficiency (at least 5-7 years experience) in photographic post-processing, creative imaging tools, color science, image quality, gamut mapping, High Dynamic Range imaging, and other computational photography techniques.
• Professional proficiency (At least 5-7 years experience) with troubleshooting issues related to camera software and image quality on embedded desktop and mobile platforms

• Familiarity with advancements in imaging technology
• Demonstrated professional familiarity with creative suite design and development, photographic/motion image production and/or industry-standard level image processing.
• Prototype and experiment with new ideas to improve visual quality, editing capabilities, and user experience across aesthetic preferences.
• Complementary proficiency in production for video capture and editing systems
• Solid understanding of camera systems, sensors, and ISPs
• Passion for photography, video, and delivering high-quality user experiences
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional and fast-paced environment with excellent communication skills
• MS/PhD degree in CS/CE/EE, an imaging-related degree or equivalent experience

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
