Summary / Role Purpose
The DevOps Engineer II supports the development of software products, processes and supporting systems. In this role, the DevOps Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to accomplish development objectives and oversee software releases. Duties also include developing and maintaining custom scripts and integrating Open Source tools for developers and testers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all DevOps activities, including the implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and verification of product builds and packaging to provide quality production builds within Windows, Linux and the Cloud
- Understands and employs best practices
- Works closely with development to adjust builds and packaging to changing product requirements
- Anticipates future needs and technology evolution and proposes and participates in implementation of new solutions
- Works in close collaboration with other DevOps teams inside of Ansys
- Automate build processes and integrate with Continuous Integration systems like Azure DevOps and GitHub
- Develop and maintain infrastructure tools for development and testing teams
- Improve performance and reliability of product builds
- Deploy, maintain and support current software development and testing tools/environments (e.g., Visual Studio, Compilers, IDEs, MPI etc.)
- Investigate and address build and runtime failures, fix compilation and linker errors
- Assist developers in resolving build issues
- Maintain and update third-party dependencies as needed
- Assemble, create, and test distribution media for official and special version releases
- Execute acceptance tests to ensure product stability and conformance to company quality standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, testing and production environments
- Work in a collaborative manner with members of the software development, infrastructure and testing teams
- Interface with IT team to specify, deploy, maintain and update build systems
- Performs other job-related duties that may be assigned by management from time to time
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years' experience or MS
- Working experience with source code version tools (git) and automated continuous integration software, such as Azure DevOps
- Must have strong scripting skills in Python, Linux Shell Scripting, Windows Batch Scripting
- Strong background in Linux and Windows operating systems
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to plan and complete high-quality work on a schedule
- Ability to communicate fluently and effectively in English because the position requires (1) collaboration and communication with Ansys' global team, including employees outside Quebec and (2) working with Ansys software products and software development tools that are written entirely in English
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Possesses thorough knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
- Experience with dependency management tools like Conan or NuGet or NPM is desirable
- Experience implementing open-source tools is desirable
- Visual Studio, Intel and GCC compilers knowledge is preferred
- Experience with YAML and JSON programming language is desirable
