SUMMARY
As an Ansys Application Engineer in the Electronics Reliability area, you will work with your customers to understand their product development goals, find solutions to their reported application engineering challenges while utilizing Ansys software including Sherlock, Ansys Mechanical, LS-DYNA and develop best practices for their design workflows. As a hands-on expert on the Ansys products in the electronics reliability area, you will provide technical sales support, deliver professional services, ensure customer productivity through training and methodology support, and help translate customer requirements into new product features. You will work in multidisciplinary teams to expand your knowledge, experience and business impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assume and execute tasks assigned to you by your direct manager or senior team members and support requested technical activities throughout the lifecycle of an opportunity, e.g. technical discovery, product presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations. Proactively seek advice if you get stuck.
- In the electronics reliability area, you, as a product expert for one or more Ansys products, will work with customers to better understand their product development requirements and how they work. You will also learn general application specific design and simulation workflows for nonlinear structural and vibration analysis. You will analyze and research how Ansys products and platforms can best meet customer requirements and internalize the Ansys value proposition.
- Support the Ansys Field and Digital Marketing team by developing promotional materials and supporting events.
- Provide product and application training and participate in the delivery of professional services for projects, which may include working with other engineers from the same or other disciplines.
- Understand the development of new product functions and features to meet customer requirements and participate in the application testing of these new product functions.
- Actively contribute to internal company knowledge sharing initiatives and embrace the culture of codifying and creating best practices within a technical discipline and across disciplines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BS or MS in any field related to Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Parts Reliability, or Electronic Products and Systems
- Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+3, or MS+0
- Knowledge and interest in electronic parts and solder joint reliability, Accelerated life testing, Mechanical characterization testing (shear, tensile, fatigue, CTE), Failure modes of electronic component interconnects
- Demonstrated use of Sherlock, Ansys Mechanical, LS-DYNA or other commercial/research Finite element software for electronics reliability applications. Knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages is a plus.
- Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English
- Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency
- Collaborative, responsible, self-motivated.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed
- Ability to travel domestically/internationally up to 25% of time
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+6, MS+3 or PhD+0
- 2 years of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services type customer facing roles using engineering software
- Experience performing and analyzing results of accelerated life testing of electronics (drop testing, vibration exposure, thermal cycling)
- Experience in Python or C++ programming
