Summary / Role Purpose
The Application Engineer II SCBU contributes to the support of Ansys Semiconductor -focused Electromagnetic software products and supporting systems. In this role, the Applications Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to accomplish Tier 1 customer support objectives in NA, EMEA and APAC. The Application Engineer II will be trained to use novel technical and problem-solving skills to help the team tackle complex issues and translate customer's requirements into exciting new product features.

This role provides technical pre-sales and post-sales support.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop competence in one or more products working independently
- Customer support tasks be able to answer questions on tools functionality
- Triage complaints about product defects and root cause for R&D
- Write a clear description of product enhancement requests
- Work behind the scenes, be task-orientated and take directions from a mentor to assist with evaluations, benchmarks, or demos
- Develop the trust and respect of team members
- Implementation of Technology Files for the Ansys On Chip Electromagnetic Product line, using internal software tools
- Create elegant and useful solutions to solve complex problems by working across various teams
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
- MS in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on semiconductor designs, SoCs, 3D IC, or related fields such as interposers. Or high-frequency electromagnetics
- 1, 2 years of experience in an engineering software environment or analog, mixed-signal and RF semiconductor designs
- Demonstrated skills in writing and presenting in fluent English
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Technical knowledge and experience with semiconductor designs specializing in analog, Mixed-Signal and RF and high frequency electromagnetics effects
- Knowledge of SoC and 3D IC level Electromagnetic Phenomena
- Knowledge of signal integrity, including crosstalk analysis, eye diagrams and power delivery network is also a plus
- Experience in a large-scale commercial software support
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel when needed
- Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
- Can be relied upon to complete work assignments well and on time
- Familiarity of Process Development Kits, advanced technology nodes, FinFET design processes and multiple foundries
- Demonstrated use of Linux environments
- Problem-solving skills
