Senior Manager, Engineering

Madison, WI

This role is a Java Manager position. You will manage the successful definition and delivery of software solutions to end-user clients to meet our needs. You will manage relationships with multiple partners; assemble and manage a team required to complete client work; define implementation plans, effort, and cost; manage risks and problems, assess the quality of the work and ensures the final product meets client expectations. You will report to the Sr. Engineering Manager.

Position Compensation Range:
$125,000.00 - $212,000.00

Primary Accountabilities

  • You will apply technical knowledge and customer insights to create a modernization roadmap and architect solutions to meet our needs, ensuring technical viability of new projects and successful deployments, orchestrating main resources and infusing main infrastructure technologies.

  • You will manage the development, engineering, implementation and operations of servers, technology infrastructure, networks, websites and telecommunication services provided by external cloud/hosting providers, and in-house development teams.
  • You will oversee the development of product roadmaps and backlogs that are prioritized based on short-term and long-term value delivery.
  • You will guide product development towards a meaningful balance between user needs, our goals, resource use, and technical feasibility.
  • You will manage the performance and availability with minimal downtime/change of cloud vendor and internally provided services.
  • You will coordinate with internal/external project team in leading cloud and end user service delivery implementation plans and ensures completion of projects and within budget.
  • You will create a collaborative, performance-driven work environment by facilitating and encouraging trust, transparency, and inclusion. Work with team members to set clear goals, provide feedback, perform performance assessments, and support on-going development.
  • You will leads with influence and expertise. You will actively contribute to division or department leadership team. You will communicates and support organization mission, vision, values and practices.

  • Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
    • Expert in Full Stack Java Development , Spring, Cloud Foundry and Kubernetes - at scale - with experience deploying applications with a combination of internal and external Cloud providers.
    • 5+ years of experience with Cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, network, data, and applications) to deliver end-to-end Cloud infrastructure architectures and designs.
    • Architect and build high-volume, critical micro-services, and Cloud-native applications.
    • 5+ years experience using, and writing, architectural patterns, standard methodologies, and guidelines for enterprise applications.
    • A fundamental desire and focus on minimizing overhead and complexity while empowering and promoting & agile delivery.

    In this flex office/home role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783.
