The Life Actuarial Specialist provides actuarial data and analysis necessary for business decisions. You will assist management and actuaries in the design and implementation of actuarial projects. You will also assist other departments in the administration and maintenance of actuarial calculations and rates in mainframe and PC-based systems . You will report to the Senior Manager, Life Actuary.

In this flex office/home role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from Madison, WI 53783

Primary Accountabilities
  • You will complete actuarial projects as assigned is such areas as product development and related pricing, profitability studies, cash flow testing/asset liability management/reserve analysis.
  • You will utilize a fully developed understanding and facility in the use of database tools for the purpose of development and analysis of experience studies, pricing, reserving and other actuarial calculations.
  • You will collaborate with others in the development, implementation and/or maintenance of actuarial related software (e.g., life reserve extract files; policy factor files (premiums, cash values, etc.); actuarial/mathematical calculation applications).
  • You will serve as a resource for team members with less experience.
  • You will communicate and share knowledge with other departments and field force by answering inquiries and providing explanations of an actuarial nature.
  • You will maintain standard documentation on assigned projects/tasks.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
  • 2+ completed Actuarial exams and a commitment to earn an ASA
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of life products, pricing, valuation, financial reporting, and industry trends.
  • Axis experience preferred
  • Demonstrated effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office products and statistical tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with database tools and programming languages.
  • Solid knowledge of and demonstrated experience using actuarial and/or statistical software, and/or related actuarial software.
