Develops knowledge and skills to place commercial and/or personal lines specialty business with appropriate insurance carrier partners. Maintains strong relationships with the field and partners to ensure smooth operation of brokerage business and high-quality customer service.

Primary Accountabilities
- Develops skills and experience to ensure business is placed and processed appropriately including preparing submission information, initiating policy changes and managing policy documentation.
- Analyzes submissions to make decisions based on individual risk characteristics for less complex risks or placements while working with a limited group of carriers or risk types
- Develops skills to utilize underwriting guidelines to ensure compliance with authority levels and state regulation. Reviews and analyzes relevant underwriting information for less complex risks and gains experience with complex coverages.
- With guidance, prices business according to insurance company underwriting and pricing guidelines.
- Handles new and renewal placement process including but not limited to rating or submitting to insurance company, negotiating with sales/service team and/or company as necessary, obtaining updated customer information and preparation of presentation and proposal/quotation materials.
- Works with internal staff or carriers to resolve questions and issues related to applications or policies issued by our vendors or to obtain guidance on more complex coverages.
- Under guidance, works with the field to fully understand the customers` needs and determines acceptability of partner insurance coverage based on underwriting guidelines or rules that best meet the needs of the customer. Provides guidance on placement of business.
- Services accounts as requested by team members or agents.
- Serves as back up contact for (calls, emails, chats) and resolution for quoting and online binding support, service issues, requests, policies, procedures, and billing/account information.
- May be required to complete other assignments or participate in projects based upon skills, achievements, or experience.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency using PC software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in property/casualty sales, underwriting or complex policy processing for excess and surplus or specialty personal lines products.
- Basic knowledge and application of underwriting processing and servicing for excess/surplus coverages for admitted and non-admitted carriers.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of brokerage insurance carrier placement processes and services.
- Demonstrated experience using reference materials, reading policy language, and processing rules and procedures.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
Travel Requirements
- Up to 10%.
