Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Seattle, a subsidiary of Amazon.com and a leader in cloud computing, seeks an accomplished Creative Director with a demonstrated mastery of storytelling and messaging, able to craft elegant narratives for awareness-level campaigns along the entire spectrum of media. The right candidate will have deep experience in working with mass TV ad production, transforming complex business strategies into clearly articulated and compelling messages, and dramatizing those messages through all available storytelling devices with special attention to video and broadcast advertising production on a global scale.
In this role, you will reach customers around the world in the highest-trafficked channels including broadcast television, digital video, OTT, OOH, social media, print, and more. You will synthesize the needs of business stakeholders into clear and coherent briefs, serving both the needs of the AWS brand and the partnerships AWS has with marquee sports partnerships globally, such as the National Football League (NFL) and Formula 1 (F1) among others. Working in concert with agency, production, and internal creative partners, you will guide creative development of a variety of assets while ensuring the highest standards of fidelity and cohesion to AWS tone and style. You will forge relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, expertly weaving a narrative that answers their needs with the appropriate depth. And you’re a seasoned writer, both conceptually adept and a wordsmith fixated on details.

This role is for experienced creative directors who understand how to work with agencies, develop concepts and lead commercial production from start to finish. You can lead teams, communicate with directors, DPs, editors, mixers, etc.
You’re a self-starter with a solid sense of ownership, exceptional presentation skills, acute attention to detail, and thrive in an atmosphere of rapid development. Collaboration is in your DNA, but you aren’t afraid prioritize, make decisions, and communicate with authority.
Key job responsibilities
Creating TV commercials and campaigns on a mass-media, broadcast scale.
Create compelling brand narratives and messaging frameworks that meaningfully differentiate AWS offerings, serve business objectives from cross-functional stakeholders, and grow the positive perception of the AWS brand.
Write clear, cogent creative briefs for agency and production partners to execute the brand narrative structure.
Own the totality of creative development for brand awareness campaigns in terms of narrative, including creative direction and guidance for external agencies, internal creative resources, and production partners from concept to delivery and testing.
Effectively present to senior leadership in simple and compelling terms that earns executive sponsorship and drives approvals.
Partner in lock-step with brand advertising campaign management counterparts in identifying and delivering success along a broad array of business objectives.
Guiding campaign creative for global sports partnerships through adherence and approvals of external brand standards, while continuing to deliver strong messages for the AWS brand.
Offer flexible solutions to production concerns in a fluid business environment, including looking around corners early in creative development with modular production techniques.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- An online portfolio of your work is required with examples of TV campaigns you have led/created that have ran on TV. Please add a link to your portfolio at the top of your resume when you apply.- 7+ years of relevant creative direction experience, including a track record of delivering ground-breaking creative campaigns that span multiple media either for leading creative agencies, production companies, media companies, or in-house creative staff.
- Expert knowledge of the film production from end-to-end including scriptwriting through pre-production, principal photography, and post. You have a working knowledge of all production departments and a point of view on how each contribute to the finished creative product.
- Bachelor’s degree in advertising, film (screenwriting), English, communications, or related field
- Strong ability to sell concepts to senior stakeholders via comps, storyboards, and written narratives.
- Understand research and performance data; translate learnings into strategies that will inform future creative approaches.
- Ability to quickly scope campaign initiatives, prioritize projects, and proactively manage your own time and deadlines—you can gracefully manage multiple deliverables with competing deadlines.
- Maintain composure in critical situations and communicate clearly with both internal and external customers.
- Ability to quickly turn around creative concepts in an iterative environment with a genuine hunger for constructive feedback.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in creating noted B2B advertising- Experience working in a large, matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders and extensive approval chains.
- Experience with global sponsorship partners, including the combination of brand standards in sponsorship situations.
- Deep dedication to craft, from concept ideation to execution.
- Passion for the tech industry, specifically around cloud computing, machine learning, etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
