Security Solutions Engineering team is looking for a highly talented and motivated Physical Security Architect /Engineer to work with our enterprise data center design team, designing the data center's of tomorrow to maximize the effectiveness of the physical security program. The duties include security system design and engineering, working with the data center architectural and engineering team to assure security best practices are observed, drafting new systems into the design teams build plans, and coordinating with regional and local physical security leaders to understand the new building and security system designs, adhering to the products on the AWS approved parts list. A successful candidate will be responsible for interpretation of Risk Assessments and Threat Analysis and AWS Physical Security Standards to assure the proper security technologies are selected to meet the unique challenges to be found in a global security program. After a new technology is inducted into the data center physical security plan, this position will be responsible for assuring the new system is incorporated into the larger data center basis of design.

Key job responsibilities
Design and engineer security systems.
Using Blue Beam and other drafting technologies to work in collaboration with the design teams to produce designs in Revit/CAD.
Creation of specifications and scope of work documentation template for local project managers to use for vendor bids.
Provide technical and design support for local physical security teams.
Coordinating with all the other disciplines in the design process of a new building (architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, IT…).
Supervise and approve all designs deliverables developed by the local physical security team for projects at each milestones of a project. Analyze, accept or reject alternate designs and mitigation measure develop by the local physical security teams when the standard design can’t be applied.
Act as a subject matter expert to support implementation of new technologies.
Work regionally but also support the global PSA team to ensure alignment on decisions and standards
Domestic and international travel for up to a week at a time

You collaborate with your team to deliver projects. You identify and communicate issues associated with the design, development, and modification of data center technologies and their implementation. You seek to learn the business context and the technologies that make up our global infrastructure architecture. You work effectively with peer engineers and internal partners to understand their needs and identify any opportunities/problems arising from technical decisions. You invent, refine, and develop solutions to ensure they are meeting business needs and team goals. You are a passionate advocate for your customer.

About the team
The Security Solutions team provides engineering expertise and design support for security devices and solutions in data centers globally. We own and support security products throughout their lifecycle. Our scope also includes emergent global scale remediation strategic efforts that impact Data Center Security and introducing and driving business improvement initiatives increasing visibility and enabling data driven decision making.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

BA/BS degree in Architectural, Electrical Engineering, or Physical Security or equivalent experience
10+ years’ experience in physical security system design and engineering, 5+ years’ experience with one or more drafting technologies such as, AutoCad, BlueBeam and others.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree or higher in related field
Need to have a speaking and writing functional English. The mastering of a second language is a nice to have.
Physical Security Design experience in corrections, military, government, or museum environments.
Experience living abroad, extensive travel, or demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse environment
Personal network of international security technology professionals
PSP, CPP, PMP Certification
CPTED Certification

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
