Job Description
The Social Impact Specialist is responsible for supporting the Manager, Social Impact and The Allstate Foundation of Canada with executing the Foundation and Allstate Canada Group's social impact strategy in alignment with ACG's purpose, employee value proposition and strategic priorities. The Social Impact Specialist will drive value to non-profit charity partners through the Foundation's grant program, employees through implementing giving and volunteering programs, to customers and general public by demonstrating how Allstate and the Foundation invest in strengthening communities, to the Allstate Canada and Allstate Foundation of Canada brands by enhancing public awareness and perception of the Foundation and Allstate as a socially responsible company through external storytelling, and to the Foundation Board through maintaining governance best-practices and supporting meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support strategic planning and implementation.
  • Play a key role in developing, updating and implementing the Foundation's Social Impact Strategy, ACG's Disaster Releif Strategy, internal/external communications strategies in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing teams, contributing to the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy, and other strategies as required.
  • Lead planning and execution of all employee giving and volunteering programs.
  • Develop and project manage programs and campaigns that engage Allstate Canada employees in creating local community impact through volunteering and donating, and collaborate with teams across the business to drive participation.
  • Administer The Allstate Foundation of Canada's national charity grant program.
  • Prospect and research national charities that align with The Allstate Foundation of Canada's grant funding criteria, facilitate the administration of grant agreements and liaise with the organization's primary contacts to support the implementation of projects and campaigns as needed.
  • Manage relationship with external vendors to provide core services to enable social impact program delivery.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Allstate Canada's giving platform vendor for ongoing program delivery, technical requirements, contract renewals and program enhancements.
  • Lead daily operations for The Allstate Foundation of Canada and Social Impact team.
  • Develop and track budgets, process invoices and cheque requisitions, manage mailboxes and respond to inquiries from employees and external organizations, create and maintain content on internal and external communications platforms in collaboration with the Communications team, lead records and information management for the Social Impact and Foundation team and manage other administrative duties as needed.
  • Support governance and administration for The Allstate Foundation of Canada.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of governance best practices and compliance with regulatory requirements by managing Foundation records, coordinating Board of Directors and Members meetings, helping to prepare materials for meetings, as well as disbursing and reporting on donations and administrative expenses.
  • Act as the Recording Secretary at Board meetings.
  • Support measurement and reporting for all Foundation and Social Impact initiatives.
  • Assist with maturing the social impact measurement framework, develop project/campaign, ongoing, and annual reporting dashboards, conduct research and collect and analyze data.

Skills:

  • 3-5 years' experience working in a corporate, charitable sector or not-for-profit environment.
  • Experience with charitable programs, corporate social responsibility, social impact, nonprofit program delivery or equivalents.
  • Interest in and familiarity with the nonprofit and public sectors, especially related to governance, policy and financial management.
  • Demonstrated capabilities at tactful, professional and/or diplomatic communications with a broad spectrum of people and business stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to listen carefully, synthesize information effectively, and communicate technical information so that it is easy to understand.
  • Strong planning, project management and organizational skills.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Social Sciences, Business, Corporate Social Responsibility, or related field.
  • Certificate in sustainability, social impact, diversity inclusion and equity or related corporate social responsibility education.
  • Experience with administration of employee giving and volunteering as well as grant-making platforms.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data and create reports.
