Job description:

Within Risk & Analytics, the Senior Manager, Data Governance is accountable to lead the Data Governance team which manages the availability, usability, integrity and security of the data in Allstate Canada Group (ACG) systems, based on internal data standards and policies that also control data usage.

By protecting ACG's Data ecosystems with an effective Data Governance framework, the Senior Manager, Data Governance will increase ACG's ability to support future decisions based on robust data and will mitigate ACG's data vulnerabilities.

Accountabilities:

  • Design and maintain the Data Governance framework to protect ACG data assets and enable solutions and processes that will increase internal knowledge of ACG data.
  • Lead the Data Governance committee functions and communicate impacts to key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the Privacy and Information Technology leadership teams to implement and design the Privacy roadmap and meet regulatory requirements related to Personal Identifiable Information (PII) data and Consent management.
  • Collaborate with the Product Delivery teams to ensure that Data Governance and Privacy requirements are incorporated by design in any future developed solution.
  • Lead the Data Governance team through delegation and prioritization of the work in accordance with the role and scope of work to be completed.

Qualifications:

Education/ Training:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Software Engineering, or another relevant field
  • 5 years of professional, hands-on data management/Operations and analytics experience, with at least 3 years of formal management experience leading data management and analytical professionals, ideally in the financial sector.

Knowledge:

  • Strong subject matter expert related to Data Governance
  • Leads long-term strategic projects in order to add value to the team/department

Change Management:

  • Leads workstreams to support the implementation and improvement of new and existing processes and procedures, to continuously raise the bar and drive innovation across department activities.
  • Cascades/creates buy in for change management initiatives for their specific team/department
  • Proven experience leading and executing integrated communications and change strategies to support large scale transformation initiatives.
  • Provides strategic operational feedback to Director

Problem Solving:

  • Strong relationship-building, diplomacy and consultation skills
  • Effective team needs-assessment capabilities and proven project management skills.
  • Ability to resolve escalated conflicts across multiple parties including the team, department and customer level
  • Advanced conflict management and problem resolution skills in managing internal and external customer relationships

Bonus qualification:

  • Extensive experience with data manipulation using SQL or other means to extract and transform data
  • Analytical mindset and experience working with business and technical teams to define key metrics, KPIs, definitions, and governance standards, along with the process to manage and maintain them over time
  • Experience with customer mastering initiative
