Job description:
Our team is growing and we are actively looking to hire a Senior Analyst, Reporting Center of Excellence (RCOE) to join our team!
Reporting to the Manager, Reporting Center of Excellence (RCOE), this role will develop financial plans and forecasts for an assigned region, provide consulting and advisory support on financial modelling for market initiatives, develop forecasts and plans to assist the market team in prioritizing and addressing business issues, lead the Finance team in developing sound financial plans that reflect operational activities, provide financial expertise and advice to business units and develop financial reports to alert stakeholders of key variances.
Accountabilities:
Forecasting & Planning
- Leads the forecast process and looks for inconsistencies in forecast versus expectations based on interactions within market teams; coordinates submission with appropriate story lines on any changes.
- Assists the manager to review and develop targets and the forecast / annual plan.
- Reviews and communicates monthly results to the leadership team and Board of Directors, adding commentary describing the issues or opportunities that led to results.
- Develops financial trends and understands how they impact premium and loss performance measures.
- Leads discussions with BP&A and market teams to highlight issues, obtain alignment, and develop calls to action; offers recommendations impacting the forecast and demonstrates impacts for the next couple of years to keep all parties focused on long-term implications.
- Uses complex models to quantify the impact of initiatives brought forward by partners and provide insightful financial reporting and expertise based on in-depth analysis of business drivers and operating metrics.
- Provides subject matter expertise when evaluating plans / forecasts against expectations for alignment with strategic organizational goals and to make decisions on tackling forecast applications as a team lead.
- Briefs managers on the stories behind consolidated forecasts / plans.
- Analyzes strategies and scenarios to determine present and future financial performance.
- Develops recommendations and communication packages for leadership discussion and presents final results and recommendations to a variety of audiences, including the senior leadership team.
- Coordinates detail around deadlines and ultimate submissions, including quick briefings on plan developments or changes, in collaboration with the plan coordinator in the parent company.
- Reviews financial reports to challenge decisions if the implications on regional financial plans do not align with the direction set out by the director or manager.
Practice Maturity
- Develops, communicates, and maintains requirements for reporting and finance system enhancements; facilitates business support throughout the technical development process.
- Mentors other department colleagues through formal training and by example.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience.
- Professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA) or working towards completion OR Master of Business Administration (MBA) or working towards completion.
- Requires 4+ years of related experience in financial / business planning and analysis.
- A general understanding of insurance operations and the implications on financials.
- Experience with financial modelling.
- MS Office Suite with advanced Excel (e.g. Vlookup, IF statements, ISERROR formulas, etc.).
- Business acumen
- Mathematical acumen.
- Interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills.
- Research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Organization, multi-tasking, leadership, and time management skills with attention to detail.
Bonus qualification:
- Knowledge of macros and/or Visual Basic (VBA) would be beneficial.
- Financial services and insurance industry knowledge.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and tools (e.g. SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC) tool).
