Your role in the team
At Allstate we have exciting new opportunities to appoint paralegals who will join the Legal Services team in Northern Ireland and operate as an integral part of the global Client Legal Services ('CLS') function within the Law & Regulation department of Allstate.
This position provides paralegal support aligned to a US state specific CLS office, in which the paralegal will manage their own tasks under limited attorney supervision. This individual serves as subject matter expert and specialist proactively identifying, assessing, summarizing, and monitoring relevant issues.

The role will involve close collaboration with Lead Counsel, Attorneys, and admins, across both the US & our wider global team. These are exciting, high-profile, and wide-ranging roles, where you will have an opportunity to help us build and grow the legal function in Allstate Northern Ireland. This is a great opportunity to support the business strategy in a highly successful, innovative company.

Key Responsibilities
- Proactively organize and prioritize case workload and proactively drive cases forward, with particular focus on time sensitive tasks
- Drafting and preparing pleadings / Answers for attorney review
- Gather, prepare & draft discovery related documents for the attorney to analyze
- Serving and propounding discovery on Plaintiff Attorney
- Liaising with clients, seeking documentation and/or providing case updates
- Proactively identify and summarize relevant issues while continually monitoring them and updating the attorney with recommendations, as appropriate
- Drafting and preparing motions for attorney review and signing
- Requesting Independent Medical Examinations ('IME's) and medical records
- Summarization of salient medical records, requesting of same and the ability to recognize court deadlines for having subpoenas for medical records and the records themselves completed and circulated
- Independently determine if additional research is needed
- E-filing / submitting documentation to the Courts
- Involvement in special projects that may be required, from time to time, to support the complex
Essential Skills
- All candidates must demonstrate they have a legal right to work in the UK for employment at Allstate. Allstate is not providing sponsorship for this vacancy,
AND
- A relevant Legal undergraduate degree or postgraduate degree or paralegal qualification, and
- Minimum 6 month's experience working in a paralegal or similar legal support role;
OR
- Currently working towards relevant legal undergraduate degree; and
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a paralegal or similar legal support role;
Candidates must also be able to demonstrate:
- Meticulous work with good attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to work independently managing own workload
Desirable Skills
- 2.1 or above in law related Degree
- Relevant postgraduate qualification
- Previous experience within US business or jurisdiction
- Experience working within an international organization
- Experience of personal injury insurance claims
