Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Lead Engineer (Senior Software Manager) to lead software engineering teams in India. This role is pivotal in driving architectural modernization, fostering engineering excellence, and ensuring successful delivery of business-critical features aligned with our OKRs. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can collaborate effectively across global teams while being hands-on in solving technical challenges in a distributed systems environment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor multiple high-performing software engineering teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with global engineering, product, and business teams to align on objectives and deliverables.

Technology Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute a technology roadmap focusing on transitioning to a microservices architecture with robust APIs and event-driven systems.
  • Drive architectural and tech stack modernization, leveraging Java with Spring Boot, SQL/NoSQL databases, and enterprise shared services.
  • Advocate for the adoption of best practices in software engineering, including CI/CD, DevOps, code quality, and testing standards.

Feature Delivery & Business Alignment

  • Ensure timely delivery of business-critical features that align with OKRs.
  • Act as a key liaison between engineering and business teams to prioritize initiatives and resolve technical challenges.
  • Partner with product managers to simplify and optimize the ecosystem for scalability and performance.

Technical Excellence & Hands-On Contribution

  • Provide hands-on technical guidance to teams, including code reviews and debugging complex issues.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance engineering excellence, such as adopting new tools, improving developer productivity, and reducing tech debt.
  • Ensure adherence to secure coding practices, scalability, and maintainability principles.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing multiple teams.
  • Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and distributed systems architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices, API design, and event-driven systems.
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and managing data across distributed systems.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and collaborate across geographies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Preferred

  • Experience modernizing legacy systems and leading architectural transitions.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Knowledge of enterprise shared services and reusable component development.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
