Job Description
Application DB2 DBA Lead Consultant would be involved in database design and capacity planning. A DB2 DBA Lead Consultant is responsible for managing and maintaining databases, including performance improvements, backup and restore support, and troubleshooting. This role would include process development and process governance supporting Production/Test & Development environments. The DB2 DBA Lead also engages in the support of disaster recovery activities, and assists in the management of business partners relationships, trains, develops, and provides guidance to department staff.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform 24x7 round the clock support for DB2 subsystems for Allstate. The Allstate Mainframe DB2 environment supports 2 Datacenters and 30 LPARs.
- Each DB2 group consists of individual DB2 data sharing members spread across the mainframe CPU's running in a Sysplex environment.
- The Mainframe server z16 DB2 Database Administrator primarily support Mainframe DB2 groups and performs the following day-to-day activities on shared DB2 database groups.
- Tuning and optimizing the complex queries for better performance.
- Performance study and improvements along with backup, recovery, reorgs, runstats, etc.
- Perform DB2 binds for various DB2 database groups across LPARs.
- Granting and Revoking DB2 object privileges to DB2 objects across z16 environments.
- Perform the DB2 performance and tuning of DB2 Databases for all the applications across the z16 mainframe LPARs.
- Database Administration includes set up of DB2 database environments Production, Development & Test, creation of databases, table spaces, tables, indexes and other DB2 objects from logical data models and works closely with developers to design and tune the database of various business applications.
- Perform the database sizing and perform the online/offline REORG activities. Manage and create utility schedules.
- Perform the core DB2 administration activities. Image copies, repairing the table spaces & objects, quiesce the databases, archiving the DB2 active logs, and database recovery activities, perform the lock escalations and concurrency states and other related activities.
- Resolve the DB2 error states for all Test & Production operations across z16 mainframe systems.
- Perform the Database design and sizing as per each application architectural design requires.
- Perform the analysis of DB2 batch job failures.
Experience
10 or more years of experience (Preferred)
