Job description:
Our team is growing and we are actively looking to hire an Analyst, Reporting Center of Excellence (RCOE) to join our team!
Reporting to the Manager, Reporting Center of Excellence (RCOE), this role will develop financial plans and forecasts for an assigned region, engage in interactive discussions with market teams providing assistance on financial modelling for market initiatives, develop financial forecasts and plans to address and prioritize business issues in collaboration with market teams, provide financial expertise and advice to business units, and develop financial reports to alert stakeholders on key variances.
Accountabilities:
Business Analysis
- Executes the forecast process and looks for inconsistencies in forecast versus expectations based on interactions within market teams.
- Provides timely, relevant, and accurate reporting and analysis of market performance results against historical, budgeted, forecasted, and strategic planning results to facilitate decision-making toward the achievement of the budget and strategic plan.
- Quantifies the impact of initiatives and/or operational activities on premium and loss flows and articulates calculations driving these impacts.
- Identifies statistical trends from disparate sources and determines their reasonableness; conducts self-directed research on topics based on review of identified trends.
- Develops financial trends and communicates how they may impact premium and loss performance indicators.
- Makes judgements / assessments based on premium and loss indicators and findings from variance reports / dashboards to recommend priority focus areas.
- Analyzes variances and looks for possible solutions by creating a series of exhibits and commentary to highlight a story behind the data.
- Evaluates suggested solutions or alternatives (e.g. what-if scenarios and cost-benefit analyses, etc.) to identified issues for departments / market teams.
- Researches issues found and develops suggestions that address customer concerns; calculates high level impacts from initiatives or actions arising from customer interactions that may occur beyond the current forecast year.
- Develops and presents materials to audiences of all levels, including senior leaders.
Practice Maturity
- Manipulates planning / forecasting models and explains the implications of suggested actions to customers.
- Develops and maintains financial models and standardized templates for use during financial planning processes to ensure data quality, accuracy, and a focused analytic review.
- Identifies non-value-added departmental processes and seeks solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.
- Professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA) or working towards completion.
- Requires 3+ years of related experience in financial / business planning and analysis.
- Financial statement / reporting principles.
- MS Office Suite with intermediate / advanced Excel (e.g. VLOOKUP, IF statements, ISERROR formulas, etc.).
- Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus qualification:
- Financial services and/or insurance industry knowledge is an asset.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and tools (e.g. SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC) tool) would be an advantage.
