Education & Enrichment Liaison Job Description
We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about the learning process and committed to working with diverse populations to work as Education & Engagement Liaisons. The incumbent will have the desire to work with youth and young adults ages 14-24 that have personal experience in the foster care system. The Education & Engagement Liaison will coordinate education and transition related services for youth active with child welfare. Responsibilities will include:
• Identify resources that support current and former foster youth as they work towards achieving self- sufficiency goals.
• Facilitating transition plan process
• Coordinate services to support young adults active with child welfare

• Ensuring each student has a complete educational portfolio
• Evaluating student abilities, interests and talents to develop academic and career goals
• Advising students on college majors, admission requirements, financial aid and technical school options
• Assisting with the completion of all requisite forms
• Collaborating with CYF caseworkers, foster parents, residential staff, school personnel, attorneys, and other related support staff to achieve optimum results
• Maintaining ongoing contact with youth to encourage and insure that individual goals are met
• Providing youth with referrals to other programs as needed
• Helping students to understand and deal with social, behavioral, and personal problems
• Maintaining student records in an electronic system and completing case documentation
Requirements:
Master's/Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in education or school counseling, plus 1-3 years' experience working with youth in an academic setting or a youth serving program. Experience navigating at least 2 different social service systems. (i.e. mental health, juvenile justice, housing, employment, child welfare, etc.) Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision is important. Additionally, incumbent should possess strong interpersonal skills in order to engage youth to participate in programs and services offered by DHS, as well as the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, dependent upon the needs of the youth and as assigned by the supervisor. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are needed for local travel.
