General
We are looking for someone to help us solve our biggest data challenges in service to optimizing our e-commerce and retail business performance. We are looking for someone with senior level experience that can turn an idea into a robust design and provide technical leadership of a project through implementation. A successful candidate will have a passion for producing solutions that perform at scale and work reliably while working collaboratively with engineers, data scientists and business stakeholders.
What does the job entail?
- Partnering with data architects, analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
- Creating low-level design artifacts, including mapping specifications.
- Build scalable solutions with robust security, quality and governance protocols with reliable data pipelines to support data ingestions (batch and /or streaming) and transformation from multiple data sources using SQL, AWS, Snowflake, and data integration technologies.
- Create unit/integration tests integrated into an automated CI/CD pipeline.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure standards and best practices.
- Deploy, monitor, support and maintain production systems.
- Use the Agile Framework to organize, manage and execute work.
- Demonstrate adaptability, initiative and attention to detail through deliverables and ways of working.
Requirements
- Technical / Educational
- 5+ years of data infrastructure experience, preferably in a retail / e-commerce setting
- Strong software engineering background with significant coding experience (Java, Python, SQL, etc...)
- Practical and relevant experience with Snowflake, DBT, AWS Glue, Apache Spark, FiveTran and Dagster strongly preferred
- Experienced knowledge in data warehouse market best practices, including model design, data integration, development and performance tuning.
- BS/MS in a quantitative discipline: Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, etc is a plus
- Work Process
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to play multiple roles for different projects, e.g., planning/architecting and overseeing development for some projects, being a hands-on technical resource for others.
- Respond with the appropriate sense of urgency to requests
- Experienced in Agile story writing and estimation, design and code reviews
- Strong skills in cross team coordination for project execution and issue resolution, as well as working with contracting vendors onsite and offshore.
- Experience working with analytics engineers in support of channel managers
- Business Domain
- Experience with advertising platforms and attribution models
- Experience operating within high growth and fast paced company environments
- knowledge of e-commerce/Shopify a plus
Work Environment
Work takes place in an office setting. This job may require working more than 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours a week. It requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time and communicate effectively with a diverse audience in person, by phone and by computer. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift, push, and carry up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 30 lbs occasionally.
What do we offer?
The pay range for this role is: $161,000 - $172,000 if performed in our San Francisco, CA corporate office. This role can also be performed remotely. The pay range for this position is $145,000 - $155,000, if performed outside of our corporate office.
Allbirds routinely evaluates pay rates, and the ranges are subject to change based on market rates and other considerations. We factor in a number of components when determining starting pay, including the job and level you are hired into, location, skillset, experience and peer compensation.
