HII Umannned Systems has an exciting opportunity to join our Systems Engineering Group, as subject matter expert and technical leader in security engineering. As a system security engineer, you will assist in the detailed design, integration, and testing of system security concepts for autonomous maritime systems, undersea and surface. The candidate will combine system security requirements and concepts, with technical knowledge of system design (electronics, software, mechanical assemblies, etc.), to develop and validate holistic technical solutions and processes to prevent attempts to deny, disrupt, disable, or otherwise interfere with the achievement of mission objectives of these autonomous systems.

What you'll be doing
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
What we are looking for
- 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
- This position requires business travel. HII policy requires that all employees must be complete with their COVID vaccination to engage in business travel.
- Must have secret clearance #LI-MH1
Bonus points for
- Experience with data at rest and data in transit devices, media sanitization standards and methods, and program protection techniques of military equipment
- Experience with cryptography requirements and operations
- Experience with cross domain solutions and data management
- Experience with certification and accreditation of national security systems
- Knowledge of system requirements levied by the categorization of Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability on a system per CNSSI No. 1253
- Knowledge of NIST 800 series of special publications
- Knowledge of DoDI 5200.39, DoDI 8500.1 and DODI 8510.01 series, and DoDI 8523.01
Physical Requirements
Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
