Alion Science and Technology is looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of a Lead Project Engineer for their Advanced Modeling and Simulation Technical Operation. This person would work with a team that manages high-visibility projects as well as establishing and maintaining best-practices within the organization for project management.

Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility of integrated DoD IT solutions including network, hardware, software, and installations
- Determining project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel and tasks to phases and elements
- Authoring Standard Operating Procedures and process documentation
- Performing Requirements Management by data gathering and liaison with subject matter experts
- Determining project schedule by consulting with subject matter experts; studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements
- Maintaining project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems
- Preparing project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions
- Defining, generating, and reviewing project requirements documentation
- Communicating project status and milestones to government stakeholders, briefing technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Monitoring project to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained
- Performing risk management to minimize project risks
- Ensuring that project management and organizational processes are followed while submitting deliverables according to government-specified acceptance criteria
Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in IT/ Project Management and a B.S./B.A. and 8+ years of experience
- In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
- Experience managing complex project plans
- Experience working in a government contracting environment
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail
- Self-motivated and driven desire to succeed with minimal direction
- Ability to work both in a team and individually
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Delivering IT solutions for DoD departments and agencies; Experience with Navy networks and training programs either afloat or ashore
- Experience adapting project management processes to improve efficiency

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
