Alion is seeking a Software Engineer/Analyst Lead to support the team. We are looking for a candidate who can apply our agile engineering methodology to every project, problem, and scenario, making effective use of time and money for our clients while providing full-lifecycle spectrum support. A successful candidate for this position will support complex analyses and testing efforts for the U.S. Navy in Dahlgren, Virginia. Located in King George County near the Potomac River, Dahlgren is just 50 miles southeast of Washington DC and provides a quality work environment without the traffic and congestion of a long commute. Dahlgren's unique location offers scenic views of Virginia and access to the Washington/Richmond metropolitan areas through U.S. Routes 3 and 301. Responsibilities
- Performs analysis, design, development, testing, debugging and implementation of complex software application programs in support of distinct product hardware or technical service lines of business.
- Defines specifications for complex software programming applications and/or oversees the maintenance of existing programs to ensure continued performance and compliance with current guidelines and standards.
- Performs all necessary aspects of the programming phase of software development including coding, testing, debugging and documenting using current guidelines and standards.
- Develops architecture requirements and performance standards to meet customer specifications.
- Participates in the analysis and development of test plans. Tests assigned components and units, provides test results and recommends corrections.
- Identifies and directs resolution of complex hardware/software interface issues or other technical problems.
- Researches and develops prospective applications and products and maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies.
- Authors or assists in the writing and/or presentation of briefings (reports on analyses, findings, and project progress), project or task plans, system specification manuals, technical reports and user manuals.
- Participates in the preparation of technical proposals.
- Provides guidance to less experienced software developers/architects.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline plus 5 or more years of directly related experience or a Master's degree and 3 years of experience. Professional certification(s) may be required.
- Experience in software development in support of Navy, Joint, and Multi-national Operational Spectrum Management or National Administrative Spectrum Management data exchange formats
- Demonstrated experience in the development of automated software, algorithms and tools to identify and mitigate EMI for operational Navy spectrum coordination
- Experience in the preparation of technical documents, which include software test plans/reports and analytical evaluation of software performance in realistic operational Navy environments and scenarios
- Experience in conducting software testing at multiple levels (unit, integration, system), performing analyses to predict and quantify software constraints, defining/designing actionable corrective measures, and experience in the operational implementation of software systems in the U.S. and allied Navy operational environments
- Experience in updating/maintaining spectrum-related documentation for programmatic requirements and operational publications to meet the best practices recommended for Capability Maturity Model-Integrated (CMMI) level 2 or higher for maintainability and repeatability
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate software concepts effectively.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in software and systems development
- Experience with software development tools and programming languages.
- US Citizenship required.
- A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.
