Summary

When a U.S. Navy ship needs repairs, they call us! HII is currently seeking senior level Engineers with recent experience in Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical specialties for marine applications to join our team as we keep the most powerful Navy the world has known afloat and ready to serve.

What you will do

• Performs engineering functions in one or more of the following specialties: electronics, electrical, mechanical, civil, and/or naval.

What we are looking for

• 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.

• Experience with developing AutoCAD drawings for Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS), Ingalls Shipbuilding, or Naval Sea (NAVSEA) Command entities, such as Supervisor of Ships (SUPSHIPS) or Naval Sea Weapons Center (NSWC).
• Experience developing all engineering calculations needed to support design development.
• Experience interacting with customer management and design leads at a high level.
• Experience as a Project Lead that can take a customer's requirements and guide a team through to a completed product satisfies or exceeds customer expectation.
• Experience with developing project man-hour estimates and write ups for engineering and technical sections of proposals.
• Must have an Active Confidential Security Clearance

Preferred, Bonus Points For

• Knowledgeable with experience in as many of the following as possible: Autodesk Nastran, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Recap, Bluebeam Revu, IDEA CAD Standards, and MathCAD.
• Experience developing drawings with the use of Intelligent Ships Installation Drawing (ISID).
• 3D modeling experience with FEMAP 2020, Autodesk Inventor, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks is a plus.
• Ability to interact and present technical information verbally and in writing (briefings, presentations, training, etc.) to internal and external customers.
• Ability to apply comprehensive knowledge on engineering practices and techniques to complex situations and non-routine tasks.
• The ability to develop training for younger engineers and act as a mentor.

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
