Alion's analysis-driven tools support diverse tasks such as spectrum forensics and deconfliction, testing for coverage amid urban clutter, and antenna site planning. Alion's Radio Frequency and Electromagnetic Spectrum Engineering Directorate (RESED) offers a variety of work, from projects supporting international satellite coordination to countering IEDs. We are seeking an Associate RF Wireless Engineer to provide spectrum support to various DoD, Federal, and commercial satellite customers.
Summary
Under immediate supervision, supports more senior engineers by performing analyses to determine the potential for radio frequency interference (RFI) between various geostationary and non-geostationary satellite systems.
Supports senior technical personnel and project managers within own organization in various technical activities related to spectrum support for satellite systems. Receives immediate supervision from management as well as technical guidance and training from the more experienced technical staff.
Responsibilities
- Performs basic engineering analysis using Excel spreadsheets, MS Access data bases, and other modeling tools to determine the potential for RFI between various geostationary and non-geostationary satellite systems. Duties often include the collection of technical parameters of the satellites to be analyzed.
- Prepares draft messages and other documentation to support the analysis findings.
- Has limited independent interaction with customers and typically provides input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables under immediate supervision by more senior technical personnel.
- Complies with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties. May provide recommendations for improvements to existing quality systems and applicable company procedures and guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 0 to 2 years of related experience. Degree must be in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science
- Basic knowledge of engineering principals, methods, and techniques within a specific area of expertise.
- Basic knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.
- Basic internal team communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with a special emphasis on good writing skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Willingness to travel internationally after COVID-19 concerns are mitigated.
- An active Secret security clearance is desired
