HII is seeking an RF Engineer/Analyst to support the team. We are looking for a candidate who can apply our agile engineering methodology to every project, problem, and scenario, making effective use of time and money for our clients while providing full-lifecycle spectrum support. A successful candidate for this position will support complex analyses and testing efforts for the U.S. Navy in Dahlgren, Virginia. Located in King George County near the Potomac River, Dahlgren is just 50 miles southeast of Washington DC and provides a quality work environment without the traffic and congestion of a long commute. Dahlgren's unique location offers scenic views of Virginia and access to the Washington/Richmond metropolitan areas through U.S. Routes 3 and 301. Position Summary
Under general supervision, performs Radio Frequency Engineering assignments of moderate complexity. Provides direct advisory support in the design, development, and testing of radio frequency (RF) and/or microwave systems architecture, components, circuits, or products. Includes antenna design, both reflector and array systems, frequency synthesizers, transmitters and receivers.
Supports senior technical personnel and project managers within own organization in various technical activities related to system and technical product development. Receives general supervision from management as well as technical guidance and training from the more experienced technical staff.
Responsibilities
- Performs basic engineering work in analysis, design, development, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of higher-level engineers in the development of system and technical products. Typically employs pre-established guidelines and instructions, and limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish task objectives.
- Duties often include the collection of information and data, performance of various tests, and engineering computations, measurements and analyses. Exhibits the ability to independently perform basic data validation and troubleshooting.
- Provides some technical guidance and oversight to entry level technical staff and may act as a technical lead for limited aspects of a project.
- Has some independent interaction with customers and provides input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables under guidance of more senior technical personnel.
- Provides input and support to intra-organizational proposal development efforts. May have some exposure to and provide some input to inter-organizational technical and business development activities.
- Complies with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties. Provides recommendations for improvements to existing quality systems and applicable company procedures and guidelines.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math Relevant work experience:
- Six (6) years' experience in the areas of Navy/Joint Operational spectrum dependent systems, National Administrative Spectrum Management
- Four (4) years' demonstrated experience in the operation and spectrum compatibility evaluation of afloat Navy communications, combat systems, electronic warfare systems, and navigation aids through preparation of technical documents, which include test plans/reports, analytical evaluation of systems' RF compatibility, and development of actionable EMC techniques
- Two (2) years' experience in conducting spectrum EMI/EMC testing and evaluations, performing engineering analyses to predict and define spectrum EMI problems, defining/designing corrective measures, and knowledge of operational implementation of systems in the U.S. Navy
- Two (2) years' experience writing and updating fleet spectrum coordination documentation for programmatic requirements and operational publications
- Two (2) years' experience in developing and executing systems level tests for commercial 4G/5G Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems
- Knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software
- Effective organization level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- US citizenship is required
- A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment
