HII- Technical Solutions Division (TSD) is looking to hire a Production Planner and Scheduler 3 for our HII Nuclear, Maritime Operations Team in Newport News, VA, supporting Newport News Shipbuilding.
Engineering Technicians Engineers in the Maritime Operations group support a wide variety of different functional areas at Newport News Shipyard (NNS). At NNS, HII builds the most advanced ships in the world, nuclear powered Aircraft Carriers and Submarines, and our engineers are integral in that effort. Engineering technicians can work in the Nuclear Propulsion Division in key roles in Reactor Servicing or Nuclear Test Engineering. As part of the HII Nuclear Maritime Operations group, our engineers have access to a unique professional development program that is intended to prepare our employees for life long success with our HII affiliates supporting different Department of Energy sites and contracts around the country.

Nuclear & Environmental Services
o Nuclear & Environmental Services, a business group within Huntington Ingalls Industries' Technical Solutions division, supports the national security mission of the Department of Energy (DOE) through the management and operation of its sites, as well as the safe cleanup of legacy waste across the country. We meet our clients' toughest nuclear and environmental challenges, and are postured to serve the growing commercial nuclear power plant decommissioning market.

What you will do:

The selected individual will be required to interact with both internal and external parties and use computer applications daily to successfully research and clear material availability issues in support of their assigned area(s) of responsibility. Selected candidate will be required to communicate daily with their respective Construction Supervisor and/or Foreman to review the weekly work schedule, identify work package liabilities (ERs, unavailable material,etc.) and update status codes to ensure work package execution. Soft skils such as time management, cross platform communication, attention to detail, and able to work under pressure are some not all of the preferred skills for the position.

Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.

What you must have:

6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Bachelor's degree. A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree. Certification Equivalency: PMP, CPIM and AICP.

The selected canidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Confidential level security clearance.

Preferred: Bonus Points for...

Strong communication skills and experience with Microsoft Office, SAP, manufacturing, planning and network scheduling techniques is preferred. Knowledge of MS Office, COGNOS, SAP, and other software with experience with VCS processes and procedures are beneficial.

Physical Requirements
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
