Job Description
Huntington Ingalls Industries is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer that has experience with a full open-source stack. The ideal candidate will need to have experience with developing and deploying in a secure Amazon Web Services region (SC2S or C2S). Will need to design, develop and analyze complicated and difficult software programs for computer-based systems plus develop, monitor and operate the networking infrastructure used in a cloud environment. The candidate will perform systems modeling, simulation and analysis. They will collaborate with hardware and software design engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems and work with them to resolve incompatibilities. As required, this position will be asked to provide inputs for documentation of new or existing programs. Candidate must have a good working knowledge of back-end programming language (Java) and front-end programming language (JavaScript), or similar languages/ syntaxes. The ideal candidate will have experience leading and mentoring junior developers and engineers.

Candidate should have an inquisitive nature, responsiveness, and excellent testing skills. Must possess strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines. Patience in working with non-technical end users is essential.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of experience with programming languages (e.g. Java, J2EE, JavaScript) and at least 2 years with cloud applications (i.e. Hadoop, Accumulo, MapReduce, Cloudbase, MongoDB, etc.)
- Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL
- Demonstrated proficiency in designing, developing, and deploying cloud-based solutions
- Experience with developing and maintaining applications written for Amazon Simple Storage Service, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Simple Queue Service, Amazon Simple Notification Service, Amazon Simple Workflow Service, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, and AWS CloudFormation
- Familiarity with the security and compliance aspects of the AWS platform and the shared security model
- Experience implementing systems & applications that are highly available, scalable, and self-healing
- Strong background in the challenges of big data, Automation, memory usage optimization, and systems engineering is needed.
- Experience with Java, GitHub repositories, and Apache Maven and Hadoop.
- Experience with the Agile software lifecycle.
- Training and/or experience with the Linux operating system, Ozone Widget Framework (OWF), Agile process, and the latest front-end libraries.
- Must be willing and able to learn new things and stay on top of the latest and greatest technologies.
Desired Skills:
- Direct experience developing solutions in the AWS GovCloud (US)
- Scripting experience with Ruby, Bash, Python or Puppet is a huge plus.
- Experience with ONE Network platforms and SDK are a plus.

- DoD 8140/8570.01 IAT level – II/III certification (any one of CCNA Security, SSCP, Security+, GICSP, GSEC, CISSP, CISA, GCIH, GCED)
