Who We Are
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team at Huntington Ingalls Technical Solutions! As a Electrician at HII you will provide task support of technical repairs and installations, work on blueprint and tech manuals at the Newport News Shipyard!
What You Will Do
- Under direction, performs routine work technical trades duties to include support of technical repairs and installations.
- Work from blueprints and tech manuals. Work assigned is typical of standard work assignments common to specialty trades.
- Applies job skills and company policies to complete a wide range of tasks that vary based on job, contract, customer requirements, specifications, etc.
- Performs semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of systems and equipment.

What You Must Have
- High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 1 year of related experience.
- Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
- Must have hands on experience with troubleshooting and repair of shipboard electrical systems (i.e. motors, solenoids, motor controllers and sub-components, thermostats, duct heaters and duct heater controllers).
- Must be able to read and understand electrical measuring devices
- Must be able to identify system and component location based on ships structure.
- Must have hands on experience mentoring, training, and/or teaching coworkers and customers.
- Must have the ability to accurately read and interpret complex technical drawings, manuals, and related forms.
- Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
