HII is currently seeking a highly self-motivated Lead Electrical Engineer to join our Tactical Sensor Systems team in Rome, NY. We are looking for a candidate who can make an immediate impact as part of the research and development, assembly and manufacturing team. In this role, you will work with a group of highly-skilled engineers and support personnel design, debug, develop and productize complex electronic devices for military applications.
The Lead Electrical Engineer's responsibilities include a wide breadth of knowledge and experience in mixed signal and embedded designs. The position requires the responsibility to design and implement solutions with little guidance or appreciable direction. The applicant must have the ability to develop requirements, review requirements, and develop solutions to meet requirements on a given effort. The applicant should be familiar with power supply design, interconnect cable design, RF system design and test station development. Successful applicants have the ability to develop technical solutions to complex problems through the use of ingenuity and creativity. The applicant should be familiar with and has experience using test equipment such as oscilloscope's, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzer and network analyzers to test, troubleshoot, and validate printed circuit board (PCB). Familiarity with Altera and/or Xilinx development toolsets and FPGA and SoC devices such as Zynq RFSoC, MPSoC, SoC and 7-Series/Ultrascale FPGA devices desired but not a requirement.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related scientific discipline plus 10 years relevant work experience.
- Ability to represent an organization as the technical lead, interfacing with internal and external customers and program leadership.
- Design low power hardware electronics (PCBAs) for Embedded Systems
- Design, and develop, power monitor/control systems
- Analog to Digital interface modules and other embedded systems
- Design and develop embedded and mixed signal systems for military applications
- Specify new hardware requirements for new systems per new standards and internal specifications
- Design power supplies for applications that meet power and noise requirements set in applicable standards
- Design and Develop integrated computer-controlled test stations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with customers, suppliers, management, and peers.
- Ability to generate PCB design constraints relative to RF and analog circuits including power supplies, power distribution network, trace impedance, guard traces, cross-talk, intend and unintended radiators.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with DoD systems, subsystems and requirements
- Experience using languages such as with higher-level design languages such as C/C++
- Experience within small multi-discipline teams of engineers and scientists
- Track record of successful research and development projects in embedded and mixed signal systems and subsystems.
- Experience in power supply design and analysis.
- Proficient in electronics design theory and embedded systems
- Proficiency with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools such as Altium, OrCAD, LabVIEW, etc.
- Proficiency with system requirements development and analysis
- Proven ability to execute major milestone reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.).
- Experience in design of analog, digital, and RF circuits including FPGAs, Processors, filters, amplifiers, ADCs/DACs PCB
- Design Experience including parts selection, architecture, schematic capture, layout constraints, PCB layout
- Create design documentation including: Schematics, Parts Lists, Wiring Diagrams, Block Diagrams, and Mechanical Drawings to be used in a Technical Data Package
