Job Description
Who We Are

At HII we build and maintain U.S. Navy readiness everyday. Technical Solutions, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries is currently seeking a Diesel Mechanic with a Class A or B CDL to support Civil Engineer Support Equipment (CESE) - heavy wheeled vehicle maintenance operations at Cheatham Annex in Williamsburg, VA. In this role, the selected candidate applies their comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward the completion of assignments. They will be responsible for interfacing with customers, subcontractors, and need to have the ability to provide work direction to others. You'll be performing a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks, including repairing and troubleshooting Civil Engineer Support Equipment (CESE) to include; trucks, tractors, trailers, containers and material handling equipment. The selected candidate will develop and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes, procedures and Original Equipment Manufacture's Owner' manuals. You'll also be responsible for schedules, reports, and briefs customers and management on CESE maintenance priorities. As well as, performing duties outside of specialty in order to complete repair and troubleshooting on CESE and Civil Engineering End Items (CEII) work assignments. #LI-AK1

What You Will Do
  • ​​​​​​Master understanding of diesel vehicle and repair processes.
  • Responsible for interfacing with customers, subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others.
  • May provide direction and lead others.
  • May manage one or multiple jobs.
  • Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools.
  • Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
  • Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
  • Schedules, reports and briefs customers and management.
  • May perform quality inspections on finished product.
  • Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.


What You Must Have
  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience. Prefer technical/professional certifications. Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
  • Prior experience repairing and troubleshooting Civil Engineer Support Equipment (CESE) or heavy wheeled or tracked vehicles.
  • Must have a current Class A or B CDL License.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a public of trust clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • A new Federal Executive Order requires that employees of Federal contractors be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by December 8, 2021. Accordingly, as a condition of employment with Technical Solutions, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, employees will be required to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption prior to starting employment.


Bonus Points For:
  • Recent experience working on diesel equipment to include vehicles, base camp support equipment, generators and or hydraulic equipment.
  • EPA Section 608/609 HVAC Certification.


Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
