Job Description
Position Summary
Assists in the deployment of secure Red Hat operating systems and associated applications. Troubleshoot security issues including architectures, network settings, local and network access.
Will be part of a team of personnel supporting mission management system. The team is tasked to provide cyber security expertise in support of projects and systems as needed.
Responsibilities
Supports the implementation of new and existing security solutions. Participation in the creation and or maintenance of policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures as well as participating in vulnerability audits and assessments.
Document and apply system and operational, software and firmware patches and or upgrades. Test and document upgrades to insure they conform with Information Assurance (IA) policies.

Test, propose and modify existing access controls and encryption algorithms in support of IA initiatives.
Participates in integrating new features into existing infrastructures, write cyber security processes in support of new features.
Participates in the enforcement of enterprise security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures). Maintains documentation, procedures and working instructions in accordance with federal and departmental guidelines.
Reviews logs and reports and interprets the implications. Participates in investigations into problematic activity and assists with plans for appropriate resolution.
On a monthly basis:
- Update security scanner vulnerability definitions and virus scan definitions
- Perform vulnerability scans on RHEL 7 systems
- Mitigate vulnerabilities and apply OS patches
- Run automated test suites and perform manually testing of system
- Commit updates to configuration management system
- Test system build process
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Assurance, Computer Science, or a related field plus 2 years of directly related experience. An Information Assurance certification in compliance with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical Level 1 is required within 6 months of employment. (A+ CE, CCNA-Security, Network+ CE, or SSCP)
Additional experience and Operating System Certificates required within 6 months:
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for comparable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of secure operating systems as well as data security.
Ability to communicate and work effectively in a diverse work group.
Must be eligible for Secret clearance immediately upon employment.
