Summary
Join HII as we keep the world's more powerful Navy afloat! HII is currently seeking a qualified Configuration Data Mgmt Controller to join our Engineering and Design Solutions Department. This is a great opportunity to assist the US Navy sailor's ability to maintain their ship and make the work they do easier. This position requires a strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task.
This is a Part time position with hours varying between 20-30 hours or as work needed
What you will do
- Reviews engineering documentation, reports, specifications, and drawings to what changes have occurred onboard the navy vessel.
- Visit the ship and verify all proposed changes in engineering drawings reflects what is actually installed on the ship, make updates to the drawing by hand so that the engineering drawings can be updated in AutoCAD.
- Be able to trace electrical connections for equipment in each space and annotate power source and cutouts.
- Update the engineering documentation using software such as Auto CAD.
- Researches and resolves inconsistencies with between what was planned to what was on the ship.
- Coordinate with other department configuration data obtained during ship checks.

What we are looking for
- High School Diploma or equivalent and/or 4 year's additional education and/or related experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Software such as word, excel and access.
- A new Federal Executive Order requires that employees of Federal contractors be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by December 8, 2021. Accordingly, as a condition of employment with Technical Solutions, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, employees will be required to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption prior to starting employment.
Preferred, Bonus Points For
- Looking for someone with Auto CAD skills but not required.
- Has a Secret Clearance
- Has US Navy Combat Systems or electrical experience
- Has experience working on Aircraft Carriers
- Navy experience in particular Combat Systems or electrician on an aircraft carrier.
- Able to travel to US Navy bases in order to conduct ship checks onboard Aircraft Carriers
Physical Requirements
Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
