Position Summary:

HII Technical Solutions is currently seeking a Communications Specialist, Lead to provide communication planning and management support to a security organization whose mission is to protect our nation's critical assets through enterprise risk management, continuous innovation, and excellence in mission performance and customer service. This position will be performed at the customer site in Quantico, VA with a hybrid work schedule that includes some telework.

Duties & Responsabilities:

  • Serve as the Communications Development Lead managing tasking and oversight of team members' execution to facilitate and reinforce successful project execution.
  • Develop highly professional communication materials/products, including outlines and metrics, that drive decision-making, depict compelling arguments, and clearly demonstrate the customer's value proposition to internal and external stakeholders, as appropriate.
  • Recommend approaches to achieve profile-raising (i.e., clearly demonstrating the customer's value proposition to stakeholders) and internal communications objectives, considering messages, audiences, content, stakeholders, and other factors.
  • Undertake creative initiatives to visualize and articulate the customer's vision and "big picture" progress by effectively synthesizing input from leadership and the workforce.
  • Draft compelling content that engages external audiences, advances key strategic messages, articulates progress/risks and ultimate value with project deliveries, differentiates communications, and demonstrates a sophisticated use of language.
  • Support other internal communications initiatives, such as writing and producing monthly newsletters/news releases, marketing brochures/pamphlets, infographics, videos, website content development/management, etc.
  • Write and edit talking points and materials to prepare leadership for meetings, speaking engagements, presentations, and events.
  • Provide technical advice in communications, such as developing communications strategies, writing web stories, preparing PowerPoint presentations, developing success stories, graphics integration, etc.
  • Recommend ideas, improvements, and best practices to continually improve the customer's internal and external communications and engagement.
  • Support any existing digital content channels and recommend creation of any multimedia content development that integrates well on designated platforms/websites.
  • Work closely, collaboratively and communicate effectively with all members of the project team including government and contractors.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or Communications is a plus) and a minimum of 5 years to 10 years of experience in communications management.
  • Strong PR, media, or communications experience in a large and dynamic organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including ability to write technical documents and give state-of-the-art presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of communications systems and processes, including experience with using video, web, and email systems.
  • Demonstrated effective writing skills to produce compelling, high-quality copy on complex subject matter for diverse communication products.
  • Good design instincts and experience in creating visually appealing communications are a plus.
  • Strong judgment and ability to make well-reasoned independent decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with limited supervision
  • Organized, a detailed oriented individual with good project management skills
  • Strong client-service orientation
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain professionalism under tight deadlines in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
  • Must have an active DoD SECRET security clearance or is eligible to get a SECRET clearance.

Desired:
  • Master's degree
  • Demonstrated understanding of website management, taxonomies, user experience, and content curation approaches
  • Proficiency in MS Publisher, Adobe Creative Suite, and basic content management systems.
  • Some proficiency in video development and Distribution List/Newsletter Software.
