Position Overview:
Huntington Ingalls Industries is seeking a leader in the commercial energy sector technology market to support the Defense Innovation Unit. This individual will be entrusted with developing networks of commercial partners for transformative DoD programs related to cutting edge energy technology. This role is critical to maintaining the United States military's technological superiority and delivering critical capabilities directly to warfighters. A successful candidate will have prior experience working within the commercial energy sector and have knowledge of emerging commercial technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience with market research, company and technology due diligence, and business development. The position will collaborate closely with and advise internal and external executives, senior government officials, and program managers. This position is based in Mountain View, CA with expected travel of 25%.

Job Responsibilities:
- Become DIU's expert on the commercial energy landscape
- Advise senior executives and program managers on any and all commercial considerations
- Build and maintain relationships with key companies, venture capital, and private equity firms
- Provide support throughout the DIU prototype sourcing process
- Provide insights into emerging technologies
- Conduct vendor and technology viability analyses
- Participate in industry conferences, forums, and other events
- Integrate into ongoing business development and marketing activities seamlessly
- Lead a research team to conduct timely industry and technology reviews
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in business administration, science or equivalent.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in venture capital, energy finance, entrepreneurship, enterprise sales, business development, product management, or management consulting
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in challenging roles and environments
- Passion for analyzing industry landscapes and identifying/vetting companies
- Private sector experience and understanding of startup company culture and operations
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and communications skills (both verbal and written)
- Experience in Climate Technology desirable
- US Citizenship and a TS clearnace with SCI eligbility.
