Position Description:

We are seeking a talented and dedicated intern to assist Alcon's R&D teams with important research tasks related to Analytical Chemistry and Materials Characterization. This intern will be responsible for searching literatures, designing, and conducting experiments to test ideas, analyzing data, discussing with internal/external experts, writing technical reports and presenting the project results. The Alcon team is looking for a talented and motivated intern to join us onsite for next summer at the Fort Worth, TX location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hands-on experience with polymeric materials, chromatographic separation techniques, spectroscopic techniques, chemical characterization, and data analysis.
  • Independently develops new analytical methods, designs, and executes complex, non-standard laboratory studies to solve technical challenges and provide scientific solutions.
  • Thoroughly and clearly documents experiments and prepares high quality Technical Documents.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college for at least one semester prior to the internship, and at least one additional semester following your internship
  • Must have a graduation date of December 2025 & beyond
  • Must be pursuing a PhD degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Science, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Process Engineering, or related major.
  • Academic performance: Minimum cumulative GPA 2.8/4.0
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities or projects)
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis. Students on an F1 visa with CPT work authorization may be accommodated
  • Ability to commit to a 10-12 weeks summer internship, full time (40 hrs./week) project
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a PhD degree
  • Hands-on research and lab experience
  • Able to work independently and collaborate as part of a team
