As a Senior Manager DevOps - AVS Digital Health Applications, you will be part of the Intelligent Services organization. We are seeking a hands-on Sr. Manager with proven expertise in managing, operating, and enhancing SaaS-based applications for a cutting-edge eye care medical device platform. This role requires an executor focused on driving operational excellence and ensuring the delivery and performance of Alcon's Digital Health Products, including Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) in supporting Alcon's customers. The position demands deep technical proficiency and the ability to lead operational teams, manage cloud infrastructure, and maintain compliance across all deployments.

This role will be remote but require 25% international and domestic travel. In this role, a typical day will include:
  • Manage the lifecycle operations of medical SaaS applications hosted on AWS, ensuring scalability, performance, and security across all deployments.
  • Oversee the implementation and management of Kubernetes clusters with ISTIO service mesh and AWS EKS to ensure secure and efficient system operations.
  • Maintain HIPAA, GDPR, and FDA compliance by aligning operational processes with regulatory standards and implementing robust monitoring mechanisms.
  • Ensure optimal system performance by integrating Redis Cache for enhanced data processing and retrieval speeds.
  • Take full ownership of setting up and managing advanced monitoring platforms, including Datadog, New Relic, and Kibana, for continuous tracking of system health, rapid anomaly detection, and sustained operational excellence.
  • Streamline workflows and ensure smooth releases by managing the development and execution of CI/CD pipelines, improving release planning, deployments, and automation.
What You'll Bring To Alcon:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 7 Years of Relevant Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of technical team management experience for SaaS applications in public cloud
  • Expertise in Kubernetes, ISTIO service mesh, EKS, and virtualization platforms.
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, release planning, and deployment strategies.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulatory controls and healthcare protocols (HL7, FHIR, etc.).
  • Designing and deploying cloud solutions to Amazon Web Services (AWS)
