  • Designs, implements, installs and commissions controls and automation systems (PLC, SCADA) for machines and processes related to contact lens manufacturing
  • Specifies and analyzes user requirements; commissions and tests interfaces, components and functions of control system solutions
  • Troubleshoots and corrects issues related to complex PLC (B&R and Beckhoff) and SCADA (CopaData Zenon) projects
  • Identifies options and evaluates the most appropriate solution to adapt or improve existing PLC programs
  • Communicates and coordinates with internal/external vendors during the implementation, commissioning, FAT and SAT of control systems (PLC, SCADA)
  • Provides expert level support and works with the various internal/external vendors/customers on key systems/deliverables
  • Ensures the on-time technical availability of the production lines and automation systems as well as the technology transfer from R&D to production
  • Provides support, as needed, and generates required technical documentation including standard operating procedures (SOPs), training manuals and validation protocols in accordance with GMP guidelines
  • Collaborates and partners with associates from multiple disciplines, including Process Development, Research and Production, to ensure project success
  • Regularly seeks input and feedback from peers and manager on how to continuously improve
  • Provides guidance to others on the team and resolves issues encountered
  • Applies intermediate level principles of engineering, blends technical knowledge and manufacturing practices in providing solutions to problems
  • Positive attitude with good interpersonal skills and ability to support a team environment
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 2 Years of Relevant Experience
  • Work hours: 40 hours
  • Travel: 10%

Skills / Experience:
  • Broad work experience applying and directly contributing expertise in process automation and control systems and development methods and applications
  • Proven ability to develop solutions for complex problems that require the regular use of creativity and originality
  • Excellent knowledge of PLC software (TwinCAT) programming
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Work experience in FDA regulated industry, specifically medical devices or contact lenses (preferred)
Preferred experience:
  • Experience with SCADA (CopaData Zenon)
  • Experience in network and database (Oracle) technology
  • Experience in safety PLC concepts for production lines
  • Experience in medical devices / contact lenses Proven
