As a HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENT MANAGER, supporting our ENVIRONMENT HEALTH & SAFETY TEAM, you will be responsible for General Environmental and Employee Health & Safety work activities related to the environment (including the broader community impacted by environmental hazards) and employees at our HOUSTON FACILITY IN HOUSTON, TEXAS, US.

In this role, a typical day will include:
- Creating and implementing health, safety, occupational and environmental programs to prevent injuries and illnesses within the workplace and environmental accidents .
- Inspecting workplace and environmental incidents in accordance with company procedures and implementing corrective actions .
- Ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements related to environmental and employee health and safety and identifying areas for improvement .
- Developing and managing an environmental and employee health & safety training plan .
- Maintaining relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the environmental performance of the organization .
- Implements systems and tools to enable associates, site leaders, and managed contractors to remain compliant with HSE regulations, permits, statutes, local ordinances and/or other externally driven requirements.
- Ensures that HSE procedures, documents, programs, processes and systems meet internal as well as externally driven compliance requirement as assessed by the appropriate internal auditor, external auditors, and external agencies during inspection, report reviews, and analytical data reviews.
- Ensures that HSE services are provided to the site, in an effective and efficient manner and works directly with business leaders and associates as needed .
- Develops effective and efficient HSE Management Systems (ex: ISO14001 certified EMS) and provides guidance for HSE programs that are appropriate for the site's complexity, population, regulatory environment, and location.
- Drives actions for the risk management program for the site.
- Ensures all site HSE Key Performance Indicators / goals and targets are achieved within agreed-upon timelines .
- Ensures that all audit-generated action items or agency-generated findings at the site are closed within the agreed-upon timelines and in a manner, which prevents recurrence.
- Ensures that assigned reports, as required by external agencies and by Alcon internal data collection processes are completed accurately within required timelines.
- Manages direct reports.
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+1 yr)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 5 Years of Relevant Experience
- 3 Years of Demonstrated Leadership
- Work hours: Exempt - Monday through Friday (flexible to work extended shift, off shifts and weekends for business needs)
- Travel Requirements: 0 to 10%
