Head of Strategy and Program Delivery

Alcon is looking to hire a Head of Strategy and Program Delivery for our Digital Health team. The ideal candidate will work hand in hand with our Global Head, Digital Health, to lead the strategic vision for Digital Health and manage the program execution and drive delivery across our portfolio of digital health products.

Our Digital Health team is harnessing technology to build a leading portfolio of digital health solutions that will transform the eye care experience for medical professionals to patients and enable improved patient outcomes - from a predictive health care delivery platform harnessing ML and analytics to innovative medical device software.
As Head of Strategy and Program Delivery, you will be the lead Strategist while also driving delivery across all our digital solutions and platforms and working closely with product teams organized within our three Digital Health innovation hubs ('Lighthouses'). We are a fast-growing team, which will give you the opportunity to shape our ways of working and culture - think start-up, but inside a global leader in eye care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy:
- Supports the design and delivery of the integrated strategy for Digital Health, in close collaboration with Global Head, Digital Health, and Strategy leads in LHs
- Works with Head of Digital Health to socialize final prioritized roadmap and major decisions across Lighthouses; ensure alignment to overall Digital Health objectives
- Manages alignment and communication of Digital Health Strategy with executive leadership (e.g., board of director meetings) and assist strategic processes (e.g., budget, resource planning)
- Program Delivery:
- Leads project management office for the Digital Health unit, driving and coordinating delivery across the three Lighthouses and strategic initiatives
- Builds and leads team of Program Managers embedded in each Lighthouse, as well as Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches across product teams
- Brings overall visibility into digital transformation and delivery of digital health product portfolio by tracking and reviewing OKRs across Lighthouses, monitoring team performance and health, and ensuring proper governance structures and timely execution
- Track progress, escalate roadblocks, and maintain tight project control to aid with on-time delivery for prioritized product
- Facilitate reprioritization and coordination activities across Lighthouses and product portfolio (e.g., Big Room planning, Scrum of Scrums), helping manage dependencies across different products and/or portfolios
- Supports the development and deployment of an integrated communication plan
- Agile maturity:
- Designs and leads adoption of agile best practices across the organization through Agile coaches and SMs
- Ensure consistency in agile coaching as 'coach of coaches' that is tailored to what the teams need
- Lead and mentor a team of Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches across product teams, ensuring growth and development opportunities
- Define standards and guidelines for role qualifications and way of working (e.g., Scrum Master, and Product Manager qualifications and responsibilities)
- Interfaces with relevant stakeholders across broader Alcon org for delivery needs
For this role, we are looking for someone that is ...
- Experienced:
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including leadership experience responsible for the delivery and launch of SaaS products / solutions at scale
- Track record as an agile transformation leader in a SaaS Software Development organization with 100+ members
- 5+ years of agile coaching experience and team collaboration tools such as JIRA, VersionOne, or Rally
- Technical:
- Understands technical concepts in SaaS and cloud native environments required to manage delivery and launch of cloud-based solutions
- Familiar with entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile Development, DevOps, and Scrum
- A 'hands-on' problem solver:
- Passionate problem solver who succeeds in ambiguous situations; experienced in identifying problems and helping remove roadblocks for agile teams; tirelessly advocates for the best possible solution,
- Ability to prioritize and understand right stakeholders and procedures to remove bottlenecks and resolve dependencies
- An agile master: Deep expertise in agile methodologies and practices (incl. Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and other Agile frameworks), holds related agile practitioner certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM, CSP, PSM, PMI-ACP), and/or certifications with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and/or Project Management Professional (PMI-PMP)
- Collaborative and a servant leader: An open and respectful leader, that enjoys working in a dynamic, cross-functional team environment
- Creative: Willing to challenge the status quo; able to understand when and how to take appropriate risks to drive performance. Excited about piloting new technology solutions to continuously improve the tech stack
- A strong communicator: Masterful communication and influencing skills with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization (verbally and written), work with executive leadership on strategic decisions, and manage organizational dynamics, interfaces and demands
- Healthcare experienced: Experienced in product delivery and launch in healthcare space
