As an Engineer Technician II supporting our manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for focusing on crafting, developing, and implementing new or revised production processes for the efficient/economical mass production of goods in Sinking Springs, PA.

  • Crafting arrangement of manufacturing equipment to ensure the most efficient and productive layout
  • Crafting the sequence of production operations, specifying procedures for the fabrication of applicable tools and equipment, and adapting machinery in response to factory conditions
  • Conducting tests throughout all stages of production to resolve control over applicable variables
  • Assisting the engineering department with the fabrication, installation, assembly, testing, adjusting, maintenance, set-up, and servicing of automatic production systems with computer control (PLC controls) as well as smaller pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Performing set-up on all equipment with little or no direction needed
  • Diagnosing and solving routine set-up and product/process problems
  • Providing immediate response to equipment malfunctions, being able to detect, and correcting errors, and adjusting components
  • Assuring appropriate steps are taken to bring equipment back to an operable state by applying electrical, mechanical, and computer-based skills
  • Working with internal support groups and external equipment vendors to solve equipment problems
  • Maintaining production equipment in good operating condition with attention to mechanics, electronics, pneumatics, process control, motion control, and instrumentation
  • Troubleshooting, installing, and setting up Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), robots, and related electrical and automated equipment
  • Assisting manufacturing engineers with new equipment, or equipment upgrades, modifications, or troubleshooting, and with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of new equipment at vendor locations
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 3 Years of Relevant Experience
  • Work Hours: 3rd Shift: Sunday - Thursday: 10PM EST - 6 AM EST, with weekend overtime required
  • Travel Requirements: 0%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience as a prior Engineering Technician or in industrial maintenance
  • Knowledge in PLCs, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Electrical, and Electronic Controls, Equipment, & Processes
