We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a CNC Machinist supporting the Optical Tooling Team, in Duluth, GA, a typical day will include:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance for precision diamond turning lathes, manual and CNC machining equipment and metrology equipment associated with tool fabrication.
  • As needed, operate precision diamond turning lathes and metrology equipment associated with tool fabrication.
  • Set-up, calibrate, maintain and perform basic functionality assessments for equipment in optical tooling lab.
  • Works closely with engineers for developing, implementing and resolving optical fabrication processing problems
  • Ensures good housekeeping practices are applied in maintaining the lab functionality.

  • Ability to keep equipment for tooling fabrication in good standing.
  • Ability to work independent and deliver on time on all assignments.
  • Ability to maintain proper records and good housekeeping.
  • Ability to interact with tooling engineers and other personnel in the lab.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 3 Years of Relevant Experience
  • Work hours:40 hours
  • Travel: up to 5%
  • Relocation: No
  • Sponsorship Assistance: No
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience as an electromechanic or similar
  • Familiarity with precision/ultra-precision CNC equipment
  • Working in a machine shop is a plus
  • Fanuc, Haas, and/or Heindenhain CNC experience a plus
