In Community Policy our mission is to create and evolve principled policies that establish the rules of the road for guests and hosts across Airbnb. This involves solving some of the most complex Trust & Safety challenges of our time. Our work is informed by rigorous research and stakeholder collaboration, and we design policies that can support our community at scale. We team with our cross-functional partners to create accessible policy enforcement guidance and to continuously maintain and improve our policies.

The Difference You Will Make:

As a Senior Policy Manager, you will play a critical role in developing policies and systems to address fraud across Airbnb’s expansive platform that involves millions of hosts and guests. This work will require focusing on fraud in Trust & Safety, Payments, Aircover and other areas and will require working across the business to continuously improve our policies and to handle new issues as they arise. This role will serve as a critical player in developing our global policy solutions and will have a direct impact on the peace of mind of millions of Airbnb community members around the world.

A Typical Day: 

  • Have broad ownership over community policies affecting the trust and reliability of Airbnb, especially in fraud space
  • Guide policy operationalization efforts in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across the business including Product, Operations, Trust, Finance, Public Policy, Legal, and Communications
  • Foster, build, and maintain relationships with leadership of internal business verticals 
  • Use data, research, and insights to evaluate and revise policies as needed
  • You love solving complex problems and have a track record of strong cross-functional collaboration.

About You:

  • You have experience handling Trust and Safety issues at scale, with particular expertise and technical skill in the fraud space.
  • You are an excellent communicator with exceptional writing skills. 
  • You are experienced working with business and product teams to understand their strategic objectives and to deliver policy solutions that enable business goals.
  • You are an adept presenter, with experience engaging with all levels of leadership, including senior executive audiences and C-Suite.
  • You are principled and rigorous, and incorporate diverse perspectives in pursuit of the best decisions and outcomes possible.
  • You are experienced at developing and implementing policies and measuring their effectiveness.
  • You are a team player who thrives in a fast-moving environment and brings a strategic mindset to your work.

Your Expertise:

  • 10-15 years experience in a Policy, Legal, or Trust and Safety role that included prior leadership on fraud issues in an international environment
  • Exceptional writing abilities
  • Ability to explain and simplify complex information to others
  • A track record of strong leadership and an ability to independently manage a portfolio of challenging issues
  • Strong cross-functional problem solving capabilities
  • Demonstrated capacity for critical thinking, research, and analysis; strong attention to detail
  • Thoughtful business judgment and strategic thinking
  • An ability to work well under pressure and work independently

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
