The community you will join:

Airbnb is seeking an intern to join the Accounting and Finance Transformation teams for our 2025 Summer Intern Program from May 19, 2025 - August 8, 2025.

If hired, you’ll have the opportunity to work with both the Accounting team and Finance Transformation team. The Accounting team maintains accurate financial data by executing a timely global accounting close to support Airbnb's strive to be a 21st century company.  The Finance Transformation team is a strategic initiative that  aims to align an organization’s finance function with its overall goals. Finance transformation can take place in optimizing accounting and finance processes, organizational change, financial capabilities (i.e. new technology), training and analysis. The purpose of the finance transformation team is to lead and improve efficiency and effectiveness across finance, cost savings and ultimately support the company’s strategic initiatives/goals.

Both teams provide an opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally with other Finance teams to support the business.

 

The difference you will make:

You’ll work with the Accounting team on on ad hoc projects as part of our accounting roadmap to maintain a 3 day OPEX close, update our Smartsheets dashboard/webpage for the general ledger team, reconcile and book our travel transactions, help with month-end accruals, ARCS reconciliation automations, SOX controls, month-close metrics, and journal entry completeness. You can expect to assist in optimizing and standardizing current processes by building reports, analyze data, and leverage automation tools to improve efficiency and drive performance.

On the Finance Transformation team, you’ll have the opportunity to focus on understanding the cross functional collaboration between the finance and system teams. You’ll work alongside the team to learn about process optimization and new tools. You’ll build metrics around finance optimization initiatives and month end close metrics. You can expect to project manage finance transformation initiatives, assist with communication to the finance organization, work cross functionally with the Alteryx program, and attend project meetings.

As an intern, you’ll be integrated into the Accounting and Finance Transformation team where you’ll contribute to impactful projects. We provide the support, mentorship, fun, and real world experience needed to accelerate your learning and make a real impact on our product, as Airbnb revolutionizes connection, belonging, and travel. You can expect to:

  • Collaborate with multiple team members to achieve project milestones
  • Communicate with stakeholders across different teams to provide project updates
  • Seek and provide feedback throughout the internship
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the Finance team and broader Airbnb community

 

Your expertise:

This opportunity is for first-year, Masters in Accounting students (preferred) and Masters in Finance students with the following background:

  • You are a full-time student graduating between December 2025 - Spring 2026
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, including advanced knowledge of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools 
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to clearly articulate thoughts, insights, and problem-solving approaches
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and precision in work
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent time management, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Passion for the Airbnb mission and product; experience with the platform is a plus!
  • Work authorization for employment in the United States is required (CPT/OPT is accepted) - visa sponsorship and relocation to the US is unavailable

Preferred but not expected:

  • Previous experience internship or full-time experience in accounting
  • Experience with productivity and project management tools such as SmartSheets and Asana, as well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems like Oracle and NetSuite

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
