The community you will join:

Airbnb is seeking a Community Crisis Investigations Intern to join the Global Crisis Management team for the 2025 Summer Intern Program from May 19, 2025 - August 9, 2025.

When a significant incident impacts, or threatens to impact, our community or company, GCM works to coordinate a swift and effective company-wide response to the crisis in order to mitigate harm and best support those affected.

The difference you will make:

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and enhancement of our operational processes. Your primary focus will be on creating a prioritization framework that addresses the numerous cases we receive daily.

You will engage in a critical analysis of these cases from an external perspective, identifying areas for improvement and implementing systematic, programmatic solutions. This role will require a blend of creativity and analytical thinking, as you will need to navigate the complexities of these situations—balancing the art of intuitive problem-solving with the science of structured processes.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to explore and contribute to projects that promote trauma-informed practices within the company.

 

A typical day:

As an intern, you’ll be integrated into a team where you’ll contribute to challenging projects. Your manager, team, and our incredible employee community will strive to be superhosts to you during the summer. We provide the support, mentorship, fun, and real world experience needed to accelerate your learning and make a real impact on our product, as Airbnb revolutionizes connection, belonging, and travel. You can expect to:

  • Collaborate with multiple team members to achieve project milestones
  • Communicate with stakeholders across different teams to provide project updates
  • Seek and provide feedback throughout the internship
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the Community Crisis Investigations team and broader Airbnb community

 

Your expertise:

This opportunity is open to full-time university students (all degree levels) attending a nationally accredited university in the United States with at least one semester of school remaining (graduating between December 2025 - June 2026).

  • Nonprofit Experience (Preferred): A background in nonprofit work is beneficial, demonstrating the ability to navigate mission-driven challenges and a strong understanding of community impact.
  • Crisis Management & Problem-Solving: Ability to remain calm under pressure, approach challenges methodically, and develop effective solutions, particularly in crisis communication scenarios.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive messaging tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Creativity & Attention to Detail: A creative mindset for identifying innovative solutions, combined with strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Critical Thinking & Collaboration: Ability to think strategically, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Company Alignment: Passion for Airbnb’s mission is essential; familiarity with the platform is a plus.
  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States. CPT/OPT is accepted, but visa sponsorship is not available.
