We are looking for a proven individual contributor who is eager to work cross-functionally and whose success will require collaboration and influencing all levels of the payments and cross-functional organizations. This role will focus on enabling the payments organization to operate effectively and efficiently, with accountability and transparency through robust governance and OKRs. This manager will report to the Director of Payments Strategy, Business Operations, Planning and Program Management.

A Typical Day:

Governance Framework

  • Define and facilitate alignment on the vision and strategy of the Payments Leadership governance framework including key meetings, reporting events and their cadence 
  • Define, execute, and track milestones to ensure all governance framework deliverables and key action items are consistently done per plan, with high quality and per agreed timeliness
  • Drive select components of the governance framework (such as monthly business reviews, Enterprise Risk Committee and Audit Risk Committee reporting,  Payments Entity Board Meetings, etc.)
  • Maximize the efficiency of all components of the governance framework by providing improvement recommendations and identification of gaps/variances to the plan

OKR Planning and Management

  • Own and drive the end to end Payments Objectives and Key Results (OKR) process, including alignment of OKRs to the strategy, monthly tracking and reporting, annual and semi-annual refresh cadences. 
  • Ensure that reporting (for awareness of strategy, progress to goals, risks, trade-offs, and accomplishments) is performed as needed (timely and accurately) to stakeholders and within select forums. Implement as needed dashboards to facilitate reporting.

Program Management

  • Provide program leadership and hands-on management for multiple simultaneous global projects.
  • Lead large, complex and cross-functional  projects for Payments, including but not limited to operational execution, understanding and resolving organizational alignment challenges, and effectively communicating progress to a broad audience of stakeholders.
  • Facilitate regularly scheduled program meetings to review program updates, deliverables, and risks.
  • Ensure program communication and collaboration cadences integrate effectively into the overall communications rhythm for the Payments organization.

Your Expertise:

  • 10+ years experience in operations for a business or product function within a major organization.
  • Experience in the payments industry is strongly desired, ideally from a network or merchant perspective.
  • Proven experience (specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise) on implementing and successfully:
    • Implementing and managing governance for large organizations
    • Implementing, managing and optimizing cross-functional OKRs/KPIs 
    • Managing significant programs and projects, and driving execution of OKR/KPIs 
  • Strong understanding of product development processes and methodologies is a plus

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally to drive collaboration (including productive friction), transparency, and accountability across teams; ability to influence discussions with differing perspectives toward a unified vision and/or outcome.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, including at executive levels on complex topics 
  • Converts complex information to compelling business context and guidance
  • Proven ability to lead strategic and tactical execution within a large functional organization
  • Capable of self-learning and building tooling to drive process improvements,  interpreting internal or external business issues/risks  and recommends best practices including trade-off recommendations
  • Comfortable working independently and navigating ambiguity to execute complex programs
  • Acts as an advisor to management on advanced and broad ranging projects or issues, provides trusted advice in area of specialty
  • Contributes to cultural activities on a recurring basis, sometimes in a team lead role
  • Consistently demonstrates core values and belonging behaviors

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. While the position is Remote Eligible, you must live in a state where Airbnb Payments, Inc. (a subsidiary of Airbnb, Inc.) is a registered entity. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
