Adyen’s Regulatory function plays a strategic role in the acquisition and management of Adyen’s permissions and licenses required to support Adyen’s commercial ambitions. As a financial technology platform operating in a highly regulated environment, Adyen is subject to ever changing laws, regulations and standards. Adyen’s Regulatory team is tasked with the interpretation and analysis of complex payment and financial regulatory challenges, identification and mitigation of integrity risks as well as engaging with strategic internal and external stakeholders (including prudential and conduct regulators and senior executives).
The EMEA Regulatory team consists of international regulatory experts coming from diverse backgrounds, such as international law firms and in-house legal departments of reputed financial institutions, fintech companies and financial regulators. UK Senior Regulatory Counsel
Our EMEA Regulatory team is looking for a UK Senior Regulatory Counsel with experience in the UK payments and/or banking industry to support Adyen’s business operations in the UK. In this role, you will be the main point of contact responsible for leading Adyen’s internal and external regulatory obligations in the UK.
What you’ll do
- Lead regulatory engagements and manage relationships with financial regulators in the UK to achieve Adyen’s strategic opportunities;
- Provide strategic regulatory advice towards internal and external stakeholders, in line with Adyen’s commercial and strategic objectives which allow for scale;
- Anticipate and identify key UK regulatory obligations and risks, and ensure these are addressed in a practical and scalable way;
Translate identified obligations into relevant action plans for business implementation and ensure said action plans are communicated and addressed across the global business; Represent the regulatory function on a variety of workstreams and internal governance bodies to establish regulatory strategies that align with global objectives and ensure controlled and compliant growth;
Who you are
- You have 7+ years’ experience in a regulatory and/or legal function focused on UK core payments and financial services legislation such as FSMA, PSR, EMR etc.
- Your knowledge of the UK payments and financial services landscape and regulatory priorities related thereto is well-established;
- You have strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as experience in managing the relationship with UK regulators or supervisors and internal stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions;
- You have a strong sense of initiative, independence and ability to take ownership enabling you to contribute to a fast-growing business;
- You are an analytical and critical thinker who finds creative solutions for complex regulatory challenges enabling business opportunities while staying in control; and
- You are willing to travel on a frequent basis, as the Regulatory Team is based in Amsterdam.
