Position Title: R&D Director

Reporting Line: VP APAC Product Development | Indirect: Managing Director ANZ

Position Purpose:

The Director, R&D will provide leadership for the R&D teams involved in development of the ADP Human Capital Management products, platforms and tools in the Australia & New Zealand markets.

This position is expected to provide technical and product thought leadership in Software as a Service and human capital management solutions market with key inputs to influence the product and business strategy in the ANZ markets. Leverages experience in product development with focus on improving agility in the environment, organisation management and talent development, while collaborating with other organisations to deliver solutions exceeding client expectations.

The Director, R&D will be a key member of the ANZ business executive team influencing the strategy and operations of the business. This role is also a member of the APAC GPT SLT and is expected to play a critical role in driving regional and global GPT initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish roadmap for the product in-line with APAC product direction and drive execution of development and maintenance of ANZ Products (CurrentGen and NextGen).
  • Develop and execute effective strategies to transition clients from CurrentGen products to NextGen solutions
  • Ensure that products are compliant with statutory and organisational policies and standards
  • Provide broad functional and technical expertise in the design and development efforts, including but not limited to architectural direction; user interface/user experience leadership; development and testing standards and best practices that suit ANZ Product Environment
  • Provide leadership in driving adoption of Agile development methodology
  • Effective interaction with multiple business units i.e. Sales, Marketing, and Client Services around product
  • Focus on identifying, developing and growing high performance teams.

Experience:

  • Significant product development leadership experience with multiple high-performing teams required in a matrix organisation; preferably in a customer centric environment, with focus on customer/client interaction and engagement.
  • Proven delivery of innovative software solutions in a Software as a Service or Cloud model.
  • Extensive delivery of commercially successful enterprise class web products; experience in managing through people i.e. managers
  • Strong Agile software development and management experience to include TDD, CI and Agile Project Management Tools e.g. Jira, Version 1, Rally, etc
  • Development and deployment of large database (Oracle, MS SQL) applications
  • Strong collaborative working style with an ability to work within a cross functional executive team in a hands-on capacity to achieve individual, team and organisational goals
  • Executive level presentation skills
  • Proven financial and commercial acumen, strong creative problem solving and strategy to maximise the impact of ADP products, services and activities.

Certifications / Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other related degree
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of current technologies
  • A Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computers (MSEE, MSCS, etc.) or an MBA is preferred
  • Scrum Master Certification and other agile certification would be advantageous.
